Get out of your head and into your body!
Somatic Pilates integrates the movement principles of concentration, breath, centring, control, precision, and flow developed by Joseph Pilates to strengthen and lengthen the myofascial system. Expect fascial manoeuvres, rocking, rolling, shaking and smiles as you reset your nervous system and FEEL GREAT!

Jane has taught Pilates for ten years, having trained with APPI, MK Pilates and Alan Herdman. Jane is also a body-orientated Psychotherapeutic Counsellor alongside practising CranioSacral Therapy with a special interest in Somatic-Emotional-Release. To self-care and extend her practise Jane also regularly attends Yoga, Feldenkrais and Fascial Manoeuvres sessions.

This therapeutic technique developed by Dr John Upledger focuses on the craniosacral system, connecting the cranium and the sacrum through the spine in which nerves, fascia, and fluid connect to all the other body systems - integrating mind, body, and soul. Subtle rhythmic movement originating from the fluid surrounding the brain and spinal cord is reflected throughout the body; through light touch anomalies in the rhythm help assess and show areas where there may be restrictions and problems.
CST can improve our body’s ability to take care of ourselves and can be useful as a preventative therapy to remain in optimal health. The types of problem people seek treatment for are varied, including stress and tension-related disorders, musculoskeletal pain, migraines, and headaches, as well as many other acute and chronic conditions. CST also addresses emotions held in the body, this approach known as Somatic-Emotional Release is a way of releasing feelings, memories, or emotions through light touch on the body to release the energetic cyst.
Listening deeply to a client’s body guides and focuses treatments from which no two sessions are the same, this for me is the beautiful paradigm shift that makes this work so powerful. Once we learn to trust that the client’s body knows best – and help empower our clients to know this too – then we can learn to let our hands follow what is asked of them.

Maybe because fell the day after the sap full moon it was a quieter and more reflective celebration for me this year. I found this on the internet about the moon which I thought was relevant. The moon is a feminine symbol, universally representing the rhythm of time as it embodies the cycle. The phases of the moon symbolize immortality and eternity, enlightenment or the dark side of Nature herself. It might reflect inner knowledge, or the phases of man's condition on earth, since it controls the tides, the rains, the waters, and the seasons. It is the middle ground between the light of the sun and the darkness of night, and thus often represents the realm between the conscious and the unconscious. In astrology, the moon is a symbol of the soul, and in the horoscope it determines the subject's capacity for reflection and adaptation. It also provides analogy for the stages of human development: the new moon is infancy, the crescent is youth and adolescence, the full moon is maturity and pregnancy, and the waning moon represents the decline of life, sleep’. I look forward to celebrating both with you and the group on Saturday 🌝
