Following our first forum discussion in December 2025 on governing integrated care, we are pleased to invite you to the second forum in the Nine Pillars of Integrated Care series, focusing on Information and Technology.

Information and technology are central to enabling integrated, people centred care. When used well, they support coordination across services, strengthen teamwork, and improve experiences for people and communities. When they do not, they risk reinforcing fragmentation, widening inequalities and adding burden to the workforce.

This interactive forum discussion will bring together international perspectives to reflect on progress to date, explore ongoing challenges and tensions, and discuss what practical shifts are needed to support integrated care across different contexts.

The discussion will explore:
โ€ข How information and technology can enable coordination, continuity and shared decision making
โ€ข What matters most for interoperability, data sharing and meaningful use in practice
โ€ข How to balance innovation with governance, trust, safety and equity

๐ŸŽ—๏ธ World Cancer Day

On World Cancer Day, we are reminded that cancer prevention and care must be inclusive, coordinated, and rooted in equity. Too often, people facing social, economic, or mental health challenges experience higher cancer risks and greater barriers to prevention, early diagnosis, and ongoing support.

Fragmented systems, stigma, and lack of coordination create gaps that are invisible to services but deeply felt by people and communities. These gaps are not inevitable, and they are not acceptable.

At the International Foundation for Integrated Care, we believe that integrated, people-centred approaches are essential to addressing these challenges. By connecting health, social care, and community support, and by designing services with people rather than around institutions, systems can move from exclusion to inclusion.

This World Cancer Day, we stand with all those working to ensure that prevention, care, and support are rights, not privileges. Equity is fundamental to better outcomes, better experiences, and healthier societies.

โš ๏ธ Are you addressing inequalities to improve outcomes for all? โš ๏ธ

One of the conference themes for the 26th International Conference on Integrated Care ( ) in Birmingham, 13 to 15 April 2026 is 'Reduced Inequalities through Social and Economic Development'.

Major inequalities persist within and between countries due to socio economic uncertainty, shifting demographics, climate change, and discrimination related to disability, ethnicity, gender, and sexuality. People facing serious health issues or complex social situations often encounter multiple, intersecting barriers that limit access to care and support, precisely when they are most needed.

This theme will explore how integrated care can make a meaningful impact by:

โ€ข Implementing inclusive practices that recognise and address diverse needs
โ€ข Collaborating with wider agencies to tackle social determinants of health
โ€ข Advocating for structural change in policy, legislation, and funding to reduce bias
โ€ข Investing in a diverse workforce that reflects the populations served
โ€ข Harnessing social investment and economic development to strengthen communities

By understanding affected populations and tailoring support to reflect inequalities, integrated care can improve wellbeing, life expectancy, and the experience of accessing services, while ensuring resources and investments are more effective.

Early bird registration has been extended until Friday, 6 February.

As we begin 2026, we look back on 2025 with gratitude and reflection on what shared learning across countries made possible.

Across IFICโ€™s country hubs, international networks, education programmes, research collaborations and conferences, one theme stood out consistently. Progress happens when people are connected, learning is shared openly, and system change is explored honestly across boundaries.

In 2025, the IFIC community came together in powerful ways. Locally grounded hubs in Ireland, Scotland, Canada, Australia and Latin America deepened connections and learning. European and global collaborations advanced policy, practice and evidence. Education programmes reached learners in more than a dozen countries. And the Foundationโ€™s international conference brought together diverse voices from around the world.

Thank you to everyone across our global community who contributed time, insight and energy throughout 2025. We look forward to continuing the journey together in 2026.
