Though I’m not affiliated with Oxford University, I’ve always admired its historic reputation as a beacon for the brightest minds, a place where ideas were debated with rigor and respect. Sadly, it has fallen far.
I don’t usually wade into political matters, but I can’t stay silent when the Oxford Union’s president-elect, George Abaraonye, celebrates the assassination of Charlie Kirk with vile posts like “Charlie Kirk got shot! Let’s gooooo!” This kind of hatred is unacceptable, especially from someone in a leadership role. Shame on the Oxford Union for not immediately removing him—your inaction stains Oxford’s legacy.
Let’s honor Charlie Kirk for who he was: a loving father and husband, a passionate advocate who engaged in respectful dialogue with those who held different views. He built bridges, even amidst opposition, embodying the spirit of true discourse.
Praise God for the light Charlie brought into the world, and may He bring justice and healing in these dark times. As Romans 12:21 reminds us: “Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.”
