The company:
Stowood is a small but growing medical device and software manufacturer and distributor. We were founded in 1992 and have averaged double digit growth over the last few years.

We are looking for an experienced, enthusiastic, Senior Electronic Engineer to join our small but ambitious company. The role will be to lead development of new ambulatory medical devices using battery operated wireless low power mixed signal designs. The successful candidate will report directly to the CEO (UK based) and benefit from a salary of £55,526-£65,559.

This is a hands-on role for someone with engineering and research experience who will be responsible for developing a stream of new products to be ready to market. You will be joining a close-knit team of supportive individuals, so we are looking for a like-minded individual.
The job will start as soon as possible.

Job responsibilities:
• Develop and test new medical devices and products
• Recruit and manage subcontractors where required for mechanical, production, assembly and test
• Interface with medical personnel for trials
• Perform or manage risk management
• Complete or manage completion of all project documentation to meet medical regulatory requirements (MDR, ISO 13485, ISO 14971, 60601-1 etc.)
• provide support for the service team when required

Requirements:
• A significant proportion of the project will be electronic engineering, so skills in that area are key - schematic/ hardware/ firmware design etc.
• An HNC or degree in electronics engineering would be desirable, however familiarity with ‘whole design’ requirements, including mechanical design and manufacturing processes is essential. Along with your previous work experience, a passion for work, excellent communication and problem-solving skills are a must.
• Experience in medical engineering would be an advantage
• Experience of managing teams
• Prepared to work in a small team environment.
• Project management experience of device production and regulation within the medical device industry would be a distinct advantage
• Commercial awareness of managing within agreed budgets and timeframes
• A sense of humour

We are a dynamic and successful Medical Devices company looking for help to bring more of our innovative products to market. The products are complex and challenging, combining electrical and electronic systems, power management, wireless sensors and communication systems.

The Lead Electronics Engineer will be responsible for developing and co-ordinating all electrical and electronic development, validation and maintenance activities related to the product.

The ideal candidate will enjoy working as part of the leadership of a small dynamic team, getting involved with the product at all levels and being hands-on with the product to facilitate continual improvements and developments.
