Last year, Mike ran the London Marathon 2024 with a skull base chondrosarcoma.

This year, his older brother James has run it in aid of and raised a phenomenal amount of money for this amazing charity! What a great run, James, despite the heat!

Mike had brain surgery last summer and is now going through intensive proton beam therapy daily for 8 weeks. He's very tired after supporting his brother in London today - he's feeling the effects of the PBT. Hopefully, this kicks the cancer clean out! Bring on the end of the treatment!

What an emotional day! We are so thankful for family ❤️ Well done, James!

Fresh air and nature! With exercise!

It's so good for your physical body, but also for your mental health and wellbeing. Most often, my motivation for getting out for a walk is to boost those endorphins - the 'feel good' hormones that keep us brighter, happier, more positive and embracing life.

What do you do to support your mental health and happiness?

Health tip for adding in more nutrition without changing much in your diet. Normal table salt (the small grains, and what you get in fish and chip shops for example) is stripped of almost everything. Instead, use himalayan rock salt, or celtic sea salt - I use pink himalayan rock salt - for micro levels of minerals, including calcium, magnesium, potassium (all needed for effective hydration and detox), iodine and iron, among others.

🌟Benefits include🌟:
* aiding digestion
* improve blood flow
* reduce fatigue
* better circulation and reducing varicose veins
* skin health - antimicrobial and antibacterial properties
* electrolyte balance - this is crucial for proper hydration, cellular function (which underpins your health and wellbeing). I can't stress the importance of this enough!

🌟Saturday morning breakfast! Quick and easy🌟

Courgette and sweetcorn fritters, with chunky guacamole.

Fritters
1. Small tin sweetcorn
2. 1 medium courgette, grated
3. 2 large eggs
4. 3/4 cup gluten free plain flour
5. 1tsp baking powder

Mix together, dollop in pan with small amount of olive oil and cook on each side like pancakes. Makes about 8.

Make guacamole with mashed avo, cut up tomatoes, seasoning and lime juice.

Delish! Perfect for lunch or light dinner too.

High fibre, protein, no sugar, gluten and dairy free, 4 plants (add some herbs for even more plants!) 💚

Walking in nature!
I've had a dog for 9 months, and honestly it's been life changing! He's such bloody hard work 🙈🤣

But....he's forced me out on walks every day and I haven't always appreciated it. Today, I realised how beneficial it's been, both physically, but more importantly for my mental health. It's allowed me to slow down, enjoy the 40-50 minutes of walking, whatever the weather, and clear my head.

An especially good misty walk yesterday morning along a track near where we live. Super lucky to have this, until they build on it 🤪 It's been wonderful to see the seasons change along this path, and it reminds me that life changes, has seasons, peaks and troughs and that things always move on. With some fresh air and adding to my step count thrown in!

Get yourself out for a walk - even if you don't have a dog. I pass so many people who walk without dogs and I love seeing them taking one of the best forms of exercise for your body. Perfect for hormonal or stressed women especially, where more intense exercise can actually exacerbate symptoms. Walk, walk walk, and if in doubt, walk 😀

Halloween breakfast!

Eyeball pancakes - gluten and dairy free protein pancakes (with pea protein powder), with dairy free white choc buttons, served with maple syrup.

Toothy lips - apple slices, stuck together with some gluten and dairy free (vegan) chocolate spread and mini marshmallow teeth (also gluten and dairy free), and some blueberries for good measure.

Hope you had a fun filled day 😀

💛Banana Bread💛

I try to bake something each week for the kids lunch boxes and a treat for my husband and I, so I know we're eating foods that aren't overly processed, don't contain crazy ingredients that are hard to pronounce or aren't used in normal kitchen baking.

Although it contains sugar, I usually reduce the amount that the recipes calls for a bit, as well as knowing its just normal sugar and not chemicals/artifical sweeteners. We try to eat as close to nature as we can, for the most part.

This recipe has come from my very talented cousin- The Blonde Flexatarian, who creates delicious recipes. I always recommend her website to my clients for healthy gluten and dairy free recipes.

I adapted it slightly by reducing the sugar a bit, and adding some cocoa powder and protein powder in place of the flour, to pack a higher protein punch 👊

❤️Date Lunch!❤️

My husband took me for lunch today at Cattle and Cocktail in Oxted. This was our second time going for a date there, and it didn't disappoint.

This was duck breast with spinach, sticky sauce, and some chips - it usually comes with beetroot and potato mash (which sounded amazing!), but this contained dairy, which I don't tolerate. My husband had steak and frites, recommended by his dad, and wasn't disappointed!

The meal we had was GLUTEN and DAIRY FREE, and DELICIOUS!!

I had a starter of grilled squid with rocket and red pesto, which was GF and DF, but I was so hungry, and I'm not very practiced at taking photos of my food before eating it, so I forgot to snap it and include! It was very tasty!

A happily recommended restaurant from me to you 👌😁

Lunch today! Salmon fillet (grilled) with brown flat rice noodles (aldi - cooks in 5 min) and crunchy stir fry veg.

I find the sauces too sweet, so I add a sprinkle of cumin, smoked paprika and ginger, with a squeeze of lime and some olive oil.

High in protein, fibre and energy for the afternoon ahead, alongside lots of vitamins in the veg. And it took me 20 min in total - salmon under the grill and cook veg and noodles while that cooks. Easy. Nutritious. Satisfying.

Now for a cup of herbal tea and some work!

Hello! After a long period of study and then some family health challenges, I'm here to help!

I know health is difficult for most these days, with GP access limited and advice from well-meaning but sometimes misled 'professionals' causing confusion. I want to help to give clear, evidence based, informative, naturopathic Nutritional Therapy advice. And I want it to be accessible to everybody, free on this page, and on my page.

Please let people know. Also - please let me know what you'd like to see on this page? What can I help with? A lot of my clients have suggested recipes would be amazing. Anything else?

Hi 👋 For those of you who don't know me, I'm Ashleigh, wife and mum of 2. I started Temple Health in 2021 as a Health Coach. However, as of February 2024, I have been a qualified and insured Nutritional Therapist!

It's been a whirlwind of a year so far with my husband going through some serious health difficulties and getting a labrador puppy in January - very cute, but almost everything gets eaten! I've had a number of Nutritional Therapy clients since qualfiying, all of whom have worked so hard and seen amazing results in their health.

Come and have a chat with me if you would benefit from Nutritional Therapy, or wonder how it can help - it can help with a lot more than people think! Templehealth.co.uk

Start of September - time to turn over a new leaf - I would love to chat 💚
