This beautiful door is to a garden near where I live. I always wonder what it would be like to walk through that door and see what is behind it as to me it looks so magical.

Like the door, the new year that awaits is the unknown and as humans we prefer the known.

Our wonder of what lies ahead makes our imagination sometimes run away with all kinds of things and a lot of them might be negative thoughts.

A reason we can go to the negative is our brain thinks it will keep us safe as being negative is a survival technique. However the more we step in and reassure our brain the more happy and calm it will be.

You might have worries of what you haven’t done this year and what is to come but try to look at all you have done this year and reassure yourself about the year to come.

I imagine that behind this door is a garden full of fairies and wonder and that gives me a lovely feeling. What about imagining that things will be alright and creating your own safe story.

Or if you have a favourite film or story already then use your favourite character as inspiration, what parts of them can help you.

I wish you a year ahead that is full of wonder, safe reassurance and kindness 🌸💫🌸

A little glass jar can hold so much joy from pickles and jams, to olives and cereal or flour and many other delights too.

Another beautiful idea is to make your own, Compliment Jar as how many times a day, a week, month or year do you miss or forget compliments?

It’s time to try to catch your compliments and write them down on small pieces of paper and then fold them up and put them in your jar. At the end of a month you look at the ones you have caught and hopefully smile.

A compliment can be anything from one someone says to you, to thanking you for holding a door open, and to ones you tell yourself. However tiny or big put them in your jar.

You matter and so do your compliments 🌸

This rainbow appeared on top of my staircase yesterday morning.
I had placed a glass of water on the window ledge as I was trying to carry too much downstairs and suddenly there it was in all its beauty.
Remember sometimes when you are least looking for joy and wonder, it surprises you and comes along to hug you, comfort you and gives you that smile so hold on for those moments at they do happen 🌸🌈🌸

I went to Portland Bill lighthouse recently and what a beautiful place it is.

I’m not great with staircases that have nothing under them or heights but I decided I was going to try to see how far I could get.

I made it to the first level and then realised that was far enough for me and turned back.

When you climb to the top you get a badge that says, ‘I made it to the top’

On arrival back down I was given this badge which made me laugh and smile a lot.

The reason for this story is to remind you to always try to look at what you have done and not what you haven’t.

Also we compare ourselves a lot as humans so try to shift that to positive comparisons, for example a few years ago I wouldn’t have even tried to climb it but this year I got to the first level.

Try today to look at what you do and not what you don’t do 🌸

Monday again!
We hope everyone has a good start to the week - thinking of those not feeling so great at the moment.

This week we have :
Renters Support, impartial advice on renting issues (not home finding but we can post on this page for you) just email details of your enquiry. We are very busy, but we always get back to you.

One to one Support: Wednesday appointments are now open from 11am -12.30 we introduced the booking system to make it fair to all. You can message or email us with a contact number - we will only text you rather than call to keep things discreet and only if we need to. If you email us check your spam/ junk box as sometimes replies disappear there. We always reply as soon as we can. Wednesday sessions are held at The Bay Coffee Company Brixham.

There is no session this Friday in Paignton as it's Good Friday.

Healthy Minds is in the process of making some positive changes so that we can deliver more to the community.
We will have news of new social events and workshops soon.

I hope you are all doing ok and this week is being kind to you.
There is so much going on in the news all the time, it can be overwhelming.
Try to limit if you can how much you read and how many stories you click on.
I was lucky to have an unexpected half hour extra for lunch today so my beautiful girl and I went for an extended walk.
Just trying to get out and change your focus can be so helpful.
If you feel unable to leave home then try to give your mind respite in any way you know that might be helpful to you.
Remember you are important too and you do matter 🌸

This beautiful image is from lucyclaireillustration book called, The Book Of Gifts. On the back of the book she writes this, ‘if you need courage, comfort, hope or love, you’ll find it here’ It’s the most gorgeous book with the most breathtaking illustrations and I can’t recommend it enough.

I would like to wish you a lovely evening tonight whatever you end up doing and a year ahead that is kind to you all.

I know so many of you will be sharing plans for resolutions and I think that gives hope and hope is one of the most precious things.

One thing I think is important to remember is to not give yourself high expectations as that leads to pressure and can overwhelm you and result in you putting yourself down.
Try to keep your expectations lower that way when you achieve something you will hopefully really praise yourself.

I know this year might have brought you sadness and terrible things but please try to take time to reflect on the good from this year also, find in your mind the pockets of lovely moments, crazy moments, fun moments, look through photographs to help you remember. I hope you find some that help you smile and give you a warm comforting feeling.

I love this poem by Donna Ashworth as it’s so true, as the more you acknowledge the anxious feelings you are having the more you can think what it is you need to look after yourself. Anxiety is horrible but it is much happier when it is listened to and comforted as it is just trying to be a friend to you 🌸
