Apparently I'm now someone who hosts adventure trips in Norway. This does feel slightly ridiculous considering I'd never worn skis before 😬
And I've just hosted my second trip with Gutsy Girls

Yes 😁 a big fat YES
Women travel
I host
Adventures happen
And apparently this is part of my life now ☺️

Gutsy Girls are a female owned and operated UK travel company that organises adventure trips for women who want to try new things and live their best lives.

This time we were in Venabu, Norway on a beginner cross-country skiing trip and when I say beginner, I really mean it.

Before this trip I had never worn skis in my life.

So naturally...they made me a host 🤣🤣

During the week we had:
•Cross Country skiing (with lots of falling over)
•Snow shoe treks through the forest looking for frozen waterfalls
•Dog sledding
•Yoga
•Ice dips for the brave
•Saunas
•Incredible food
•And a lot of laughter

I have been asked
"Why did Gutsy Girls choose you?"

Well.

It's definitely not because I'm an expert skier
It's definitely not because I'm fearless
And I definitely don't speak Norweigan
And it's very definitely not because I'm perfect 😛

They didn't chose me because I'm super sporty or an expert (at anything) They chose me because I'm normal (ish)

A woman who sometimes has anxiety
A body that isn't always straight forward and likes to surprise me
Midlife....oh the joys that brings 🥴
Hot flushes and insomnia

But, I'm also someone who wants to live my life fully 🙃

So I keep saying yes to the adventures

As a host it is my job to welcome everyone, encourage women when they're nervous, celebrate the brave moments, laugh when we all fall over in the snow, make sure no-one feels like they're doing it alone and remind women they're capable of more than they think.

I think most of us feel the same at the start of the trips. Why did I say yes 🙄, feelings of excitement whilst also being slightly terrified. Wondering if they'll be the slow one, will everyone else be more capable, will everyone be better at it than me. And the lovely thing is, we're usually all thinking the same things.
And then we leave, with new confidence, new friendships and stories we will talk about for years ahead.

Age isn't a barrier
Being a beginner isn't a barrier
Feeling nervous isn't a barrier
Beginner trips exsist for a reason
Sometimes all it takes is saying yes

What adventure would you try if you knew you wouldn't fail?

Trust me, if I can do it, anyone can.

Quiet reflections this morning

We pray to Father God
We hope
And we have faith that he hears us

Though we cannot see
the absent father
We trust he offers us salvation
In this life
And the next

If we are well behaved childen
Perhaps he will love us
And we will finally feel the love we crave

But what about the mother
She holds us
She feeds us
She shelters us
She offers everything we need to thrive

Yet we ignore her
We shun her
We destroy her
Through neglect
Through disrespect
Through forgetting

We take her for granted
Because she's always been there

Yet without the mother
There is no life

She is guaranteed
Tangible
Visible
Beautiful
Powerful

Last nights circle was intense and emotional. Hard decisions having to be made. It wasn't the circle I'd envisaged or planned but the energies dictated otherwise. As a space holder sometimes we need to lift the energy and sometimes we just need to hold it no matter how uncomfortable it feels. Society, social media and TV don't show this aspect of life and pain and suffering are demonised but pain and suffering are part of life. We have to feel it to heal it. To ignore, surpress or deny it is to deny aspects of being human, it's to deny a whole being experience and it's to deny our emotional and spiritual growth. It keeps us stuck
To all those that came last night and shared their raw truth, I see you, I respect you and I admire you for showing up.

Not even sleep

She never knows the dark
