FREE TORBAY'S YOGA4MENTALHEALTH Course. Starts: 24th April 2026!
Yoga4MentalHealth PCI (Personalized Care Institute) Yoga & Breathing Course. Starting on Friday the 24th of April, is a short course comprised of 8-Week sessions. Shorter sessions starting at 10 am and finish at 11:30 am. It's a course designed in a very safe, welcoming environment and both chairs only options and mat options exist. it is also secular with no direct references to spirituality. Plus, FREE /donation based. You will learn breathing techniques with enhancing knowledge week-by-week, including chimes giving the final sessions a truly Eastern feel that disguises the fact you are aligned to an optimum breath rate for O2 perfusion in the body being 5-6 bpm.
Yoga4MentalHealth YOGA CLASSES are from a Prescription Formulation yet are for both NHS & NON-NHS patients: There’s both Chair and Mat based applicability.

Who is it for:
- with stress, anxiety or mild or moderate depression (plus more serious SMIs please inform the provider first)- at risk of Type 2 diabetes or cardiovascular disease
- suffering from social isolation.
The Yoga4MentalHealth Yoga on Prescription 8-week programme supports both NHS & Non-NHS patients to gain self-care skills by learning yoga breathing, relaxation and mindfulness techniques. No prior experience is needed, and the gentle stretching and strengthening yoga postures can be done in a chair or on a yoga mat. This is a PCI (Personalized Care Institute) standardized course.
What will the classes involve?
Each of the eight 1.5 hourly sessions are led by an expert Yoga4Health teacher Dee (Davinia) Allbrook and include:
- Breathing practices
- Simple yoga postures
- Meditation and mindfulness
- Relaxation-Group discussion.
The Yoga4MentalHealth evidence-based programme was commissioned by the NHS and created by the Yoga in Healthcare Alliance. It fuses the wisdom of ancient practices with modern medical science. The programmer's benefits have been validated by Westminster University. Yoga4MentalHealth classes are inclusive and secular and do not promote any religious position.
The course sessions follow a weekly theme, 30 minutes of poses (10 minutes of seated mobilizations + chair or mat to follow), then a relaxation, a formal breathing practice and an opportunity to ask questions and share your experience in a circle, in order to encourage Biopsychosocial connectivity. Good quality well cleaned mats, blocks, straps and chairs are supplied.
The Venue is on a ground floor as are disabled toilets. Regular Stagecoach buses support the Venue in terms of transport. The Venue is centrally located and has is very accessible. Refreshments are provided.
