🌟 Congratulations to Susan! 🌟
We’re absolutely thrilled to announce that our lovely optometrist, Susan, has passed her independent prescribing exam – and with flying colours! Her hard work and dedication paid off and she achieved a very high mark. 🎉
With Susan’s success, all three of our optometrists are now fully qualified independent prescribers – meaning you get expert, NHS eye care closer to home, by a team you already know and trust.
That also means that for any acute or worrying eye concerns, it’s best to call us first – rather than going to a pharmacy, GP surgery or hospital.

Linwood Opticians continues after being bought by one of it’s employees
In August 2019, optometrist Gemma Hill began a new chapter in her optical career when she officially took over ownership of Forde Opticians in Glasgow.
Ms Hill qualified in 2016 having completed her pre-reg placement and later continued full-time at the same practice that she now owns.
She works alongside two optical assistants, Nicole Poole and Cherie King. Both worked for the previous owner.
The practice benefits from some cutting edge optical equipment, allowing early diagnosis of many eye diseases such as macular degeneration and glaucoma.
Forde Opticians strives to be a clinically excellent optical practice, helping the Linwood community and surrounding areas take the best possible care of their eyesight. In addition, they are proud to offer a range of spectacles from budget to designer, and lenses to suit each individuals needs. Family and community are of the upmost importance to the practice, with all three members of staff and much of their extended families living in and around Linwood.
