Another calf acupuncture patient 🪡

The pain you feel in your calf muscles day to day, isn’t normal.

The muscles need to be released & that’s what I’m doing to this patient.

The relief afterwards is extraordinary & if you follow my rules you won’t need to come back for a while.

You know that really sore feeling you get in your calves? That tight, horrible pain?

That’s not supposed to be there…

It develops through the likes of incorrect footwear, over-exercising, your pelvis being off balance & many more reasons.

It’s such a common problem I see regularly but it can be easily treated with some acupuncture 🫶🏼

If you’ve got pains or strains in your traps you may need some acupuncture to relieve it.

This could be caused by:

💥 Over exercising that area
💥 Bad posture
💥 Sitting hunched over your phone

I’ve said before, massages are great for relaxation but they’ll never get rid of pains.

Acupuncture resolves any knots by inserting the needle directly into the trigger point, relaxing the muscle.

Here we have a classic functional spinal scoliosis, pictures taken by our patient 😁
3 sessions and less than 2 months later we have managed to straighten this gal’s spine out with manipulation, acupuncture, exercises and joint mobilisations 🥳🥰

isn’t life threatening but can be hugely debilitating, painful & can eventually need surgical intervention 🆘

Top tips for long distance walking 🙌🏽

Wear supportive footwear 👟
If you have flat feet, bunions or previous fractures, you may benefit from an insole (to be worn during training)
Make sure you have good socks on too (above ankle) and you have worn these shoes before the big walk!

Stay hydrated
Water is movement, you are water! Keep yourself topped up to avoid cramps & dehydration. Drink plenty on the days leading up and post event 💧

Stretch throughout 🧘‍♀️
Keep your limbs limber … Plenty of shoulder, back and neck stretching will keep your core stable and prevent back pain throughout the walk 🆘

Brace that core 🫃🏻
Get that tummy tucked in! Always keep a tight core. This will ensure plenty of stability to give you a better balance, cadence and flexibility when walking long distances. Abs like slabs will keep any unduly pressure off of the spine, especially if you aren’t used to standing/walking that length of time.

Recovery is key 🧑🏻‍🦽
Foods fuelled with anti inflammatory properties & electrolyte juices are a great way to enhance recovery. Food is medicine.
Ice baths for up to 3 days after event and then very hot baths, saunas and steam rooms on day 3-10 are a great way to speed muscle rehab.
Stretch stretch and do some more stretching!
Don’t forget to give your body a rest, so keep marathon and strength training to a minimum 🙌🏽
Sleeping is much more efficient, so get plenty of it 😴

And last but not least, have fun!💁🏼‍♀️

People often opt for paracetamol/ibrufen for a sore head but with recent evidence suggesting it can cause heart issues and strokes (not to mention awful for your liver!) We highly recommend using alternative methods such as mentioned above 🆘🙋🏼‍♀️
