Community Support Assistant
No Experience Needed | Full Training Provided | A Job That Truly Matters

Have you ever thought, “I’d love a job where I actually help people”?
If you’re kind, reliable, and want work that leaves you feeling proud at the end of the day, you might be exactly who we’re looking for — no experience required.

Why This Role Is So Special

With a growing population of younger adults looking to access more opportunities and older adults needing a wee hand as a Community Support Assistant, you’ll support people to attend various groups and in their own homes, helping them stay independent, comfortable, and cared for. Sometimes that means practical support, sometimes it’s simply being a friendly face and a listening ear — and often, it’s both. Don’t worry if you’ve never worked in care before. We’ll be with you every step of the way, with full training, paid shadowing, and on-going support.

You will learn and be supported to build confidence in:

Supporting people to go for their shopping or days out
Supporting with medication
Providing companionship and emotional support
Food and Nutrition
Preparing meals and helping at mealtimes
Light household tasks
Helping people move safely and comfortably
Personal care (washing, dressing, toileting)
Simple written and electronic record-keeping and reporting

Who This Role Is Perfect For

You don’t need experience — just the right values.

We’re looking for people who are:
Caring, patient, and dependable
Friendly with good communication skills
Keen to learn and grow
Flexible to work shifts, including some weekends
Hold a full UK driving licence and have access to their own car
Have the right to work in the UK

If you’ve ever helped a family member, neighbour, or friend — you already have more care skills than you think

What you will Get in Return
£13.45 per hour and increasing with qualifications
Paid induction training and shadowing
The chance to gain SVQ Level 2 in Health & Social Care
Paid mileage and travel time
Uniform and PPE provided
Flexible shift patterns
Clear opportunities to progress your career
Refer-a-friend bonus
A genuinely rewarding role where you make a real difference, every single day

Working Hours at this time are 16-20 hours per week, 3-5 days over 7, but due to demand for services, we may be able to suit your working requirements if the days and hours don’t match your availability.

Final Word

Care isn’t “just a job” — it’s a chance to change someone’s day, every day. If that sounds like something you’d love to be part of, we’d be delighted to hear from you.

Read the Friendly FAQs below – To Know You’re Not Alone

“I’ve never worked in care before — should I still apply?” Absolutely!
Many of our best support staff started with no experience at all. If you’re kind, reliable, and willing to learn, we’ll give you all the training and support you need.

“What if I’m nervous or not confident?”
That’s completely normal — and very common! You won’t be thrown in at the deep end. You’ll start with paid induction training and shadow experienced carers until you feel comfortable and confident.

“What does the training involve?”
Your training covers everything you need to know, including personal care, medication support, moving and handling, and keeping people safe and comfortable. It’s practical, supportive, and designed to help you grow at your own pace.

“Will I be working on my own?”
Not at first. You’ll be supported through shadow shifts and you’ll always have a team you can contact for advice or reassurance. You’re never on your own — even when working independently.

“What if I make a mistake?”
Everyone learns by doing. We focus on support, learning, and teamwork — not blame. There’s always someone to talk to if you’re unsure or need help.

“Is care work really rewarding?”
Yes — in ways that often surprise people. From a smile, a thank you, or knowing you’ve helped someone stay independent in their own home, the rewards are real and meaningful.

“Can this turn into a long-term career?” Definitely!
Many of our support staff will go on to gain qualifications like SVQ Level 2, take on senior roles, or build a long-term career in health and social care. Most of our staff members have been with us for years and our newest staff member has been with us for 9 months and has already commenced an SVQ2.

Prominent to the right is the Royal Victoria Eye Infirmary, designed by Charles Davidson, and opened in 1899, to replace an earlier Eye Infirmary at 1 Forbes Place.
The infirmary was a gift to the Town by Provost MacKenzie * in honour of Queen Victoria’s diamond Jubilee. A later edition to the building is by James Steel Maitland another of Paisley’s illustrious architects.
The Infirmary closed in the 1980’s and is now Nightingale House Care Home.
