⭐️ Continuity of Care ⭐️

Was great to see Blair this morning. We’ve built such a great rapport over the years and enjoy looking after his eyes. After discussion we feel it’s time to utilise contact lenses as another option for correcting his vision. We also decided to recreate the photo we took back in 2020 when he won an Easter egg. Time flies……😳

We have a patient who had a serious eye injury during a car accident in the early 1970s. She kindly brought a letter from an Ophthalmologist in 1972 which detailed the injury. We also managed to take a fascinating photograph of the affected eye where you can see the damage to the iris.

What a beautiful morning ☀️
Please look out for us on digital billboards in and around Paisley in April - we thought that we’d enhance it by adding our movie star looks to the image 🎥 ⭐️

We just received a brilliant photo of Miller & McClure from back in 1988. This is how the practice looked (with the testrooms on one side) when Gordon and his family used to visit as patients back then. Thank you to Karen for sending it through ❤️

When the person at Argos mistakes you for Daniel Craig and puts your agent number on your receipt. Nothing says international spy like buying a new hoover and kettle for the practice! Happy weekend everyone ❤️

Family ❤️
It’s always been our mentality to treat people like a member of your own family. Give them good, honest advice, explain everything you are doing and take time to be as thorough as you can be.
Today was a good day as Gordon had the opportunity to give his Mum and Dad their annual check up. They originally brought Gordon and his sister Jenny to Miller and McClure Opticians in the early 1980s.
We thought that posting a photo from 40-something years ago would be fun too!!

Another opportunity to try and take some images of another interesting eye!
Asteroid hyalosis is a fairly rare, harmless eye condition in which calcium crystals form inside the eye. The name comes from the fact that the calcium crystals look like asteroids and are seen in the vitreous gel that fills the eye. These calcium crystals form slowly over time, usually in just one eye. Asteroid hyalosis is not considered an eye disease and rarely causes problems with the vision. In the video you can see the crystals floating around as our patient moves his eye.

Here is a neat photo of one of our patients eyes. Gordon noted this small/thin strand across the pupil and thought it was best to get an image for future reference.

This appears to be a persistent pupillary membrane and is the medical term for the extra tissue that covers some or all of the pupil as a baby develops in the womb. It is safe, asymptomatic and rarely requires treatment. It happens when the membrane doesn’t fully dissolve like it should before birth. Aren’t eyes amazing!! 👀
