Checking your skin regularly could save your life.
The importance of checking for melanoma – including your feet 🦶
Melanoma is a serious type of skin cancer that can develop from an existing mole or appear as a new mark on the skin. When caught early, treatment is often very successful — which is why regular skin checks are so important.
Many people forget to check their feet, but melanoma can develop:
• On the soles of the feet
• Between the toes
• Around the heels
• Under or around the toenails
• On the tops of the feet and ankles
Because we don’t always look at the bottoms of our feet, changes can that can go unnoticed 👣
When caring for your feet, take a moment to check the skin on your soles, heels and between your toes. If you struggle to see the bottoms of your feet, use a mirror or ask someone you trust to help.
If you notice any unusual or changing lesions, always contact your GP promptly. It’s better to get it checked and have reassurance.
Early detection saves lives — and that includes your feet 💚
