Wow! What an amazing response!
After receiving amazing feedback on yesterday’s announcement that we’ll be running a confidence programme for kids, I wanted to share more about why this programme is happening (and also clarify what it’s NOT going to be).
Alongside their training sessions with us, each child will be given a journal that they’ll complete daily for six weeks covering positive mindset, healthy eating and health building behaviours
The journal will include questions designed to help them see themselves as powerful, identify things (and people) that positively impact them, and recognise who they have a positive impact on as well.
As girls approach their teen years, body image and negative social expectations on how a girl “should” look and behave can have an enormous impact on how they grow up and who they become as adults.
I want to help them see themselves as amazing and capable, and allow them to explore the idea that how they look is less important than how they feel.
For the boys, I believe it’s clear that having positive role models is vital. the trouble is - most people teaching or coaching them in PE or sports is focussed on what everyone can do, rather than simply question “Is this boy succeeding and how can we help him shine?”
This programme also helps them view themselves as powerful and strong, but it will also teach them how to use their growing strength to cultivate a mindset that is conscientious, kind, and self-aware enough to see the impact they have on others, as well as the impact others have on them.
This is a six-week programme that I firmly believe has the power to change how your child views themselves for the rest of their life.
It will inspire them to see what their body is capable of and how powerful they can be, both physically and mentally.
