Cosy days are rolling in for us with plenty of games, baking club afternoons and interesting talks from our ‘Ashdale Super Friend’ Tim Burton on local history and reminiscing.

Residents on the willows enjoyed a special edition of cinema club with popcorn and treats brought in by our own Emma A who took the activities reins while I was away last week, thank you Emma!

A our last trip out in October saw a fresh group of Ashdale Rambler’s enjoying a tour of where we explored Hancock’s boat yard and got to learn about the different types of boats used in and around west wales. We finished up with a trip to Y Cerrig Glas for a pint and some chips!

Everyone back home had a lovely week too with visits fromGreyhound Rescuee therapy hound Ruby amongst other things.

The Ramblers had a yearn for the water last week, we were fortunate enough to take a trip with Blue Horizons and their wonderful team! Our very own Pauline did a fantastic job of piloting the boat out on the Cleddau and we enjoyed reminiscing over trips on the old ferry. On one of our walks we also had a delightful surprise as the otter was out to play!
So much to enjoy and explore locally and connecting with nature really made our hearts sing.

A lovely trip out earlier this month saw the Ashdale Ramblers visiting the Boars Head in Templeton for a lovely meal before heading over to the Welsh Lovespoon factory for an informative and intriguing talk. The owners of this family business have been crafting in Kilgetty for 50 years now and every spoon on their wall has a story to tell. We deeply appreciated their love of the craft and had a wonderful time.

We are so grateful to the wonderful local causes and businesses who come to give talks to our residents! These talks are hugely interesting, entertaining and ensure our residents remain in-the-know about what’s going on in our wider Pembrokeshire community, which they have played a part in for years and still should do!

Can we say a massive thank you to Mark and Jayden from Welsh lobster Co, Malcolm from the Pembroke Town Walls Trust and The lovely Evette (and Corgi!) Roxy from Greenacres Animal Rescue.

I didn’t take anywhere near enough pictures as we were too involved and engaged by the talks but honestly, this is what community spirit looks like. ❤️ 💙💜💛💚

Autumnal crafting and baking activities over the last few weeks have been a lot of fun as we enjoy talking about the changing season. We’ve planted spring bulbs ready to enjoy in the new year and spent time exploring the senses via the feel of crispy leaves (or a finger paint fight!), the smell of cinnamon or taste of chewy oats in our cookies. It’s got us all feeling cosy here at Ashdale! 🍂 🎃

Some lovely mini outings happened this week, Iris and Jean went to explore Narberth saying hello to old friends, jewellery shopping in the vintage market and tasting treats at the food festival! Mary, Carol, Beth and Sue enjoyed a nature walk with the children from Golden Manor Nursery collecting leaves and conkers for autumn crafts!

Did you know our fantastic kitchen team at Ashdale make all our food from fresh each day?
That includes the beautiful birthday cakes for our residents too! Mandy, Jenny, Emma and Maria put their hearts into making fresh, nutritious and varied menus that mean there’s always something new for our residents to enjoy.
I would have added a picture of the sausage casserole that was dished up today but it disappeared too fast for me to get one!

A lovely outing making the most of the weather last week to Cosheston Garden Centre! We enjoyed strolling around, smelling and touching the plants before choosing a ruck of spring bulbs to bring back to Ashdale for planting later in the season. A visit to the garden centre wouldn’t have been complete without a stop at Martha’s Kitchen for coffee and cake (but we were too busy enjoying it to take photos!).

Our first outing of Autumn today took the Ashdale Ramblers up to Haverfordwest to revisit our resident Jim’s old stomping grounds and explore the town centre!

We loved viewing the new ‘Instagram able bridge’ (though we weren’t sure we would’ve paid that much for it), then we visited the town centre museum and had a hot debate about how the ankle stocks would have worked.

After popping in some of the bridge street shops we finished by visiting the Turkish Cafe on Quay street that we read about in our news review group for cappuccino’s and baklava!

Though we were necessarily a smaller group today we still made it happen, thank you everyone 🥰

A fantastic day at Ffos Las Races for the Ashdale Ramblers today! We picnicked with a pint while choosing our runners before heading down to the finish line to watch them go. Impromptu singalongs on the bus were a highlight of our day, and a look at the horses round the parade ring finished off our afternoon nicely. We were all thankful for the tips from our racing expert Roy, and managed to finish the day with no great losses and at least a win for each.
Many thanks to all the team who enabled us to go today 💚
