Just one week to go until Midlothian’s second free Falls Prevention Community Drop-In. Pam Mackay, pictured on the right, would thoroughly recommend coming along. Having fallen a few times, broken her hip and had a knee replacement, she keeps her strength up by coming along to the Wellbeing Team’s Wednesday Best Step Forward falls prevention class at Dalkeith Arts Centre. “Coming here is helping but it’s also about making friends and you get a laugh,” says Pam who thoroughly enjoyed our first falls prevention event last September.. What else can you do to prevent falls, like Pam?

Last Sept 221 people came along to the first one. And this one is even better! Drop in for fun demonstrations, local resources, and of course tea, coffee & homemade cake. Learn how small changes – from simple exercises to healthy eating and safe footwear – can help you stay confident and independent. And the great news is the Ageing Well team is back in a bigger space with their strength and fitness tests.
Open to everyone over 50 and their families.

So that we can see people while they're ill, we release GP appointments on the day (this stops you waiting weeks for an appointment). All other appointments - regular joint injections, nurses (including ear syringing, agreed bloods, B12s, smears/well woman), physiotherapy for new issues, mental health nurse - can be booked in advance at any time, not just at 08:30.
