🍔 Same Calories, Different Results — The Study That Shocked Scientists

Ever been halfway through a packet of biscuits and thought, “Where did they all go?”
It’s not just you. It’s not just willpower. And it’s not even necessarily the sugar or fat.

A gold-standard study from the U.S. National Institutes of Health proved something wild:
Researchers fed people two diets with the same calories, sugar, fat, protein, carbs, fibre, and salt.

One diet? Ultra-processed foods — packaged breads, sweetened yogurts, chicken nuggets, instant cereal.
The other? Minimally processed foods — fresh fruit, veg, whole grains, plain meat, nuts, seeds.

💥 Result: On the ultra-processed diet, people ate 500 extra calories a day without realising it.
After 2 weeks:

Ultra-processed → +2 lbs

Whole food → −2 lbs

Same nutrients. Different results.

Over years, those extra calories add up to weight gain, higher blood pressure, inflammation… and shorter lifespan.

Not every backache is a mystery. Sometimes, it’s just that your bed is too soft, too firm, or simply not the right fit for you (or your partner).

Your spine prefers a mattress that’s just right—not too hard, not too squidgy. Think “Goldilocks,” but for grown-ups with stiff necks and cranky hips.

Drinking plenty of water in the heat? Great! 💧
But if you’re sweating a lot, your salt balance might still be off—leaving you tired, dizzy, or just not feeling right.

🧂 When we sweat, we don’t just lose water—we lose salt (sodium). British soldiers in jungles take salt tablets daily to prevent collapse—even when drinking loads of water. It’s that important.

✅ Try these simple tips:
• Add a pinch of sea salt to your water after sweating
• Snack on something naturally salty (olives, cheese, nuts)
• Use an electrolyte powder with no added sugar

⚠️ If you have high blood pressure, kidney, or heart issues, check with your doctor before changing your salt intake.
