💗 Valentine’s Day can be a tender time 💗

While many are celebrating love with hearts and flowers, for some Valentine’s day can bring a wave of longing, sadness, and deep emotion for someone who is no longer here.
If today feels difficult for you, please know this is a very normal part of the grieving journey. Raw and tender moments are often a reflection of how deeply you loved - and still love - the person you miss and are no longer able to express in person how much you love them.

At Penryn and Falmouth Funeral Directors, we understand that love continues when a life ends. That’s why our Letters to Heaven post box is always available for you, a quiet place to share your thoughts, memories, and words of love with those who remain forever in your heart. Or you can share thoughts of love and gratitude below.

Whether your heart feels full, fragile, or somewhere in between this Valentine’s, you are not alone.

With care,
Daniel, Ken and the team 💌

Following our recent post about funeral cortèges and the importance of patience and respect for grieving families, we’ve been overwhelmed by the response and the supportive comments from our community.

As a result, our funeral director Daniel will be speaking on BBC Radio Cornwall this morning at 10:15am on the Julie Scantlebury Show, to talk about why these small moments of consideration mean so much to families at such a difficult time.

Thank you to everyone who has shared their thoughts and shown support, it truly highlights how much kindness and understanding still matter in our community.

We feel it’s important to gently remind people about the respect shown to funeral processions. As a mark of dignity and respect which we afford to all of our funerals we page the hearse away from our premises for a very short distance, around 20 yards, before continuing on to the roundabout where it is then safe and appropriate for traffic to overtake.

Sadly, we are increasingly experiencing drivers overtaking the hearse before this point. These moments, though brief, can be deeply upsetting for families who are following behind and saying their final goodbyes.

A funeral cortege is not about inconvenience, it is about care, respect, and allowing families a few quiet moments of dignity. Waiting just a short distance can make a real difference to those who are grieving.

Thank you to everyone who shows patience and understanding. It truly matters.

As we step into a new year, we want to thank all the families we’ve walked beside who placed their trust in us throughout 2025. It has been a privilege to care for your loved ones and to support you during such important moments.

As the year begins, our thoughts are also with everyone who has lost someone they love and may be carrying grief into the days ahead. A new year can bring mixed emotions, and there is no right or wrong way to feel as you move forward.

We wish you peace, comfort, and gentle moments as the year unfolds. With heartfelt thanks, we wish you a calm and hopeful New Year. 💛✨🌿

Love from everyone at team PFFD ❤️
