Full moon blessings! Did you know when the moon is full, Prana (vital life force energy) moves up to the head (and on the dark moon, it moves to the feet)? The effects of this may include:

🌕 clarity
🌕 sleeplessness
🌕 headaches
🌕 over thinking things

It can be helpful to keep a Moon Diary so you can keep track of what you notice around the different moon phases. Include in your diary things like: physical, mental and emotional states, menstrual phase, perceptions and desires. Then after a few months you can look back and see if any patterns are emerging. I’d love to hear about your findings!

Next month is the Winter Solstice Moon Yoga Gathering. This annual event is a full day retreat to really give you time to pause, nourish and restore. The Winter Solstice is the shortest day of the year, a time to turn within and rest, so it’s important to rest and honour this time when energy may be low (especially when there may be a busy Christmas ahead!)

Here are the details:

Such a beautiful morning with my Moon Yoginis to mark Samhain and celebrate the coming of the Dark.

The invitation was to pause and reconnect inwardly- to see clearly what is present, acknowledge thoughts and feelings which may have been previously unseen in the busyness of daily life; to create a space where the mind can quieten down in order to allow insights to arise.

Thank you to all who joined me, for bringing yourselves just as you are, for your presence, and for your willingness to be seen.

Our next Moon Yoga Gathering is a full day retreat on Sunday 14th December to mark the Winter Solstice. Full details can be found on the Moon Yoga page of my website or email me at: lucinda@lucindayoga.uk

Samhain blessings dear Yogis! It's a beautiful time to pause and be still, to check within and to offer gratitude for all that life brings.

What is it that needs to be witnessed or held in your own life right now?

How do you nourish and resource yourself?

Taking time to meander amongst the trees is a wonderful way to quieten down and listen within.

What do you do to take care of yourself? For me there is a daily, weekly, monthly and annual practice established, which helps me ensure I am resourcing myself.

The daily practice is usually the shortest/easiest and needs to be doable, so could be doing 10 minutes of breathwork when you first get up, or a yoga/meditation practice. The length of time is up to you - long enough that it does something for you, but not so long that it feels stressful to try to fit it in.

The weekly practice is something like attending a class or group, something nourishing that happens with others and maybe with a teacher and usually for a longer period of time - at least an hour.

The monthly practice gets a bit more in depth - could be a course or a workshop for example.

The annual practice is the a longer commitment to give you time to really pause, taking time out of your daily life, out of your daily routine and usually away from home. Ideally, this would be at least 5 days long.

In this way, you ensure you have structures in place to start your day from a place of being resourced, as well as practices which go deeper to make real change.

If it calls you, I offer Moon Yoga Gatherings throughout the year - a practice for women to pause, nourish and connect. The next session is coming up on Sunday November 2nd, 10am - 2pm for Samhain. Find out more here: https://lucindayoga.uk/solstice-moon-yoga-gathering/

Dear Yogis,
I’m on a train to Bristol, so NO CLASS THIS EVENING! I’m off to the Karuna Institute, participating in a course on Mindfulness Based Core Process Psychotherapy.

The course was founded by a Buddhist nun, inspired to help those with mental health issues. The teachings of the Buddha have so much to offer in terms of guidance in how to both meet life’s difficulties and find personal freedom.

Having studied and practiced Buddhist meditation for many years, it feels like a great privilege to be able to take this course and work with embodied practices in relationship with both myself and others.

See you on Saturday, 9am at the Zedshed for the start of a new yoga term!

Love and blessings
Lucinda
