Today is World Autism Awareness Day 💙

Autistic people may experience the world – and healthcare – differently.

Taking the time to listen, communicate clearly and make reasonable adjustments can improve experiences and outcomes.

Together, we can make healthcare more inclusive for everyone.

📣Welcoming Dr Lucy Collins to the Partnership Team📣

We are delighted to announce that Dr Lucy Collins has joined the partnership team at Perranporth Surgery, working alongside Dr Alex Cockcroft, Dr Sarah Wilding, Dr Ed Moore, and Dr Emma Docherty.

Many of you will already know Lucy from her time with us over the years. She first joined Perranporth Surgery as a GP Registrar, quickly becoming a highly valued member of the team. After completing her training, we were fortunate to welcome her back as a salaried GP.
Lucy’s values align closely with the ethos of Perranporth Surgery—kindness, teamwork, and a genuine dedication to patient-centred care. We know she will play a key role in helping us continue to grow and develop the practice for the benefit of our patients.

As we look ahead, we do so with real excitement. With Lucy joining the partnership, we are strengthening a team that is passionate about delivering the very best care. We remain fully committed to developing and delivering a caring, outstanding service to all who rely on us.

With new beginnings, valued legacies, and a strong sense of teamwork, we are looking forward with enthusiasm to the next chapter for Perranporth Surgery 💙

❤️ Living with a heart condition?
Keeping track of your blood pressure can be a simple way to support your heart day to day.
High blood pressure often has no symptoms, but it can increase the risk of complications like heart attacks or stroke. Reducing salt, staying active, managing stress, and regular blood pressure checks may all help protect your heart.

The HPV vaccine helps protect against several cancers, including cervical cancer, as well as cancers of the mouth, throat and ge****ls.
It’s offered to boys and girls in school to help protect them later in life.
The vaccine does not protect against all HPV types, so attending cervical screening when invited is still important.

💊 Don’t get caught short this Easter. Order your medication in time
Heading away or staying local this Easter?
Please make sure you’ve ordered your repeat prescriptions early so you have enough medication to last through the bank holiday weekend.
Pharmacies and GP practices will have reduced opening hours over the Easter period, so ordering now means:
✔️ No last minute panic
✔️ No missed doses
✔️ A stress free holiday
✔️ Less pressure on urgent and emergency services
If you use the NHS App, you can order your repeats in just a few taps – quick and easy.
Thank you for planning ahead and helping Cornwall stay well this Easter. 💙

There are lots of places where you can get help for illness and injury. Do you know where is best this Spring?

➕ Pharmacy 💚
A pharmacy can help with a wide range of minor illness, and provide all sorts of services and advice. Most now offer the Pharmacy First service which provides treatment for 7 common conditions, without the need for a GP appointment.

We understand that recent news reports about the meningitis outbreak in Kent may be concerning for parents and staff working with children and young people. There is currently no outbreak in our area and no local public health alert so currently there is no need for any additional actions.
UK Health Security Agency has said the programme may expand as they continue to assess the situation, but no broader rollout has yet been announced.

If you’ve been advised to check your vaccination history (e.g., by a university), you can view your past vaccines via the NHS App under your own GP health record.

💉MenB vaccination for this age group is only available privately and is not provided by GP practices.

This is an opportunity to remind parents of the importance of keeping routine vaccinations up to date.

Kernow Health are doing a catch-up programme for children in years 7 - 11 so to check your child’s vaccination status or book an appointment, contact them 📞 01872 221105

It's important to know the signs of symptoms of meningitis and septicaemia. Get more info from http://nhs.uk/conditions/meningitis . If you are concerned about symptoms, please contact NHS 111 or speak with a clinician.
