Measles can be serious, 1 in 5 children may need hospital care. Watch for symptoms: fever, cough, runny nose, sore red eyes, followed by a blotchy rash starting on the face.

👉 If your child shows symptoms, keep them home and call your GP or NHS 111.
👉 Check their vaccinations. Two doses give about 99% protection.

If you have any questions regarding your child’s routine school age vaccinations, please call Kernow Health on 01872 221105 or 01392 342678.

Many minor illnesses and ailments can be treated at home through self care.

This half term, our chief medical officer, Dr Chris Reid, reminds us to:
💊 check that you're not going to run out of medication and
💊 keep simple remedies like paracetamol in the house

Norovirus cases (also known as the winter vomiting bug) are 50% higher than average for this time of year.
Whilst people aged 65 and older make up most of the cases, there has also been a sharp increase in infections in children aged under five.
If you or someone in your house catches the bug, remember to help reduce the spread by:
🦠Washing hands regularly with soap and water (alcohol gels do not kill norovirus)
🦠Use bleach-based products to clean surfaces
🦠Do not go to work or school until 48 hours after symptoms have stopped

The first sign of a stroke might not seem like much, like not being able to raise your arm. Or struggling to smile. Or slurring when you speak. Any sign of a stroke is always an emergency.
Face or arm or speech, at the first sign, it's time to call 999.
