IOSH recently published a whitepaper entitled 'Fixing sick Britain'.

At a time when a record 2.8 million people in Britain are economically inactive due to long-term sickness problems, it focuses on providing a roadmap for creating healthier, more productive workplaces which are underpinned by robust health and safety cultures and inclusive support.

The last report from the Mayfield Review has revealed that less than 5% of people with learning disabilities are in paid employment.

This is despite the fact that, as a Mencap survey previously showed, 86% of people with learning disabilities would like to be.

In order to really Keep Britain Working, as the government aims, we must tackle the barriers that people with learning disabilities and neurodiversities face in the workplace.

At FRT, we are proud to employ over 100 people with learning disabilities and/or autism as Experts with Lived Experience Co-Trainers. They are an essential part of our delivery of the Oliver McGowan Mandatory Training programme and a valued part of our team.

It's Anti-Bullying Week this week!

Led by the Anti-Bullying Alliance (ABA) across England, Wales and Northern Ireland, the annual campaign raises awareness of the impacts of bullying, which still affects more than 1 in 5 children each year.

The theme for Anti-Bullying Week 2025 is Power for Good, aiming to empower children and young people to take positive action to counteract the harm and hurt that bullying causes.

The Care Quality Commission (CQC) has published its annual State of Care Report for 2024-25.

The annual assessment of the health and social care sector in England shows some positive signs of innovation care but also reveals issues with longstanding inequalities, mounting pressures on mental health services, recruitment struggles, persistent delays in hospital discharges and primary and community care capacity challenges.

Looking ahead to the government's NHS 10-Year Health Plan, the report warns that major investment and support for community care services are urgently needed if the proposed shift away from hospital-based care is to be achieved.
