Are you confident your staff training meets UK legal and regulatory requirements?

Mandatory compliance training isn’t one-size-fits-all. Requirements vary depending on your sector, regulator, and the roles within your organisation, and keeping up with changes can be a challenge.

We’ve created The Complete UK Guide to Mandatory Compliance Training for Staff, covering:
Statutory vs regulatory training requirements
Mandatory training for general workplaces
EYFS and safeguarding requirements for early years and schools
CQC expectations and core training for health and social care

Whether you’re preparing for an inspection, reviewing your training matrix, or onboarding new staff, this guide brings together the key legal frameworks and regulator expectations in one place.

A new report has revealed that living in temporary accommodation is 'like torture' for neurodivergent children.

The report highlights a blindspot in homelessness policy in the UK, which means that the specific needs of neurodivergent children and their families are often overlooked, and they are subjected to living environments that are 'impossible' for them to tolerate.

Chronic sensory distress, sleep disruption, instability and unsafe housing environments can lead to lasting physical, mental and emotional harm for neurodivergent children.

The report has made a number of key recommendations to ensure these children are no longer an 'afterthought.' These include mandatory neurodiversity training for housing officers.

The government has launched a 3-month long consultation on a range of proposed measures to make social media safer for children and young people.

The consultation puts forward proposals including a social media ban for children, raising the digital age of consent, implementing phone curfews and restricting potentially addictive design features to combat 'doom scrolling.'

It comes alongside immediate action to enforce phone bans in schools, a nationwide tour to open up a national conversation on social media and smartphone use and the development of screen-time guidance for parents.

Childline have launched their new 'Race to a Milli' campaign to highlight the impact that smartphone and social media use can have on the mental health and wellbeing of children and young people.

The campaign raises awareness of the importance of carving out device-free time to support positive mental health.

It comes after Childline delivered nearly 83,000 counselling sessions of the subject of mental health concerns last year. This represented more than half of all counselling sessions they delivered during 2024-25, with the main concerns mentioned by children and young people including anxiety, depression, self-harm and suicidal thoughts.

The landmark Mental Health Bill has received Royal Assent, meaning it is now law, and will finally modernise outdated mental health legislation.

The government says the new Mental Health Act 2025 will ensure that patients with severe mental illness will be better protected and receive better care and support.

The Mental Health Act 1983 originally provided a legal framework to detain and treat people who had reached a mental health crisis point and were at risk of harm to themselves or others. But campaigners have long called for the legislation to be reformed and for mental health laws to be brought into the 21st century, and successive governments have worked on reviewing and reforming the Act.

A new finger-prick blood test could help to 'revolutionise' the diagnosis of Alzheimer's disease, the most common form of dementia.

An international trial is underway to explore the effectiveness of the new finger-prick blood test, which is designed to identify the presence of three proteins that have been linked to the development of Alzheimer’s disease.

These so-called blood-based biomarkers could then indicate an individual's risk of developing Alzheimer's.
