My son is nearly 13, sport mad and has had a massive growth spurt and it is so important for me to support his mental and physical health at this momentous time. So yet again it is about Protein! I am so thrilled that he has a real interest in health and Nutrition and we are finally off the Rice Krispies (I know! Don't judge!) and one thing he loves is Greek yoghurt, mixed with a fruit puree (frozen berries) and some protein powder. We use Fage Greek Yoghurt,0% fat as it has the highest protein levels. He loves it and I know he is getting a good breakfast protein intake.

Definitely rich and creamy, but surprisingly fat-free.

I love Peace Lilies and have them dotted around the house. Not only do they look fab, and are easy to care for (essential!) they also may have air purifying properties.

So it’s a win win, pretty, easy to care for and beneficial for health!

One thing you will hear most Nutritional Therapists bang on about is the importance of eating good quality protein. As I am now 50 and going through the perimenopause, I am noticing more and more that my hair and nails texture and quality is changing. One reason could be not enough protein. We should be eating a small fistful of protein at each meal.

Now, that is not always possible. Sometimes I am not hungry at breakfast and then too busy with work to eat mid morning. For those days I really rely on this product.

Plant based, no artificial colours or flavourings. And I know I am getting 25g of protein per serving. It also helps cut down on any sugar or carb cravings which is a bonus.

Vitamin D supplementation

Essential for healthy teeth, bones and muscles.

Advice for adults and children over 4 years old

During the autumn and winter, you need to get vitamin D from your diet because the sun is not strong enough for the body to make vitamin D.

But since it's difficult for people to get enough vitamin D from food alone, everyone (including pregnant and breastfeeding women) should consider taking a daily supplement containing 10 micrograms of vitamin D during the autumn and winter. NHS.

Apples are in season and if you are lucky to grow some at home here is a really good use for them.

Stewed apples are rich in soluble fibre, a type of prebiotic, which helps the beneficial bacteria in our guts thrive and these bacteria have a significant impact on our overall health.

Veg in Season - good old Brussel Sprouts. I love them.

How - roast them, slice them up and stir with them, with ginger and garlic and sesame seeds, or eat raw as part of a coleslaw (no need for may - use a vinaigrette instead.

Why - Brussels are a good source of vitamins A and C, iron, potassium and fibre.

Such a good recipe. Especially for this time of year with lots of bugs flying about. Try to use your own homemade chicken stock, full of goodness. Yummy and nourishing.

A really quick nourishing meal. Gluten free (if you use gf noodles eg rice noodles and gf stock - home made is best, but stock cube for speed! Also great for using up leftover roast chicken and any veg you can find in your fridge. Finely shredded cabbage, kale, red peppers, frozen peas. Any veg you....

PCOS can have a profound detrimental affect on a woman’s life, it has been described as “The thief of womanhood”.(Kitzinger & Willmot 2002).

Personally, as a sufferer I know only too well of the impact PCOS can have on a woman's life.

I wish I had known in my younger years how to support myself, but the Doctors didn't or didn't know what to suggest.

If you know of anyone who is suffering with PCOS, there are things we can do to help with the symptoms. Please do get them to contact me, it is an area I am passionate about supporting.

PCOS can have a profound detrimental affect on a woman’s life, it has been described as “The thief of womanhood” (Kitzinger & Willmot 2002). Approximately one in ten women in the UK are affected by PCOS.
