The Cailleach is an ancient Celtic Goddess, who rules winter.
She is a wise women
A wild women
A medicine women
A witch

Legend says that at the winter ❄️ solstice. She gathers her firewood to last the winter.

And when her firewood runs out- we reach Imbolc 🔥
On February 1st, the Cailleach must go out to gather more.

If the day is bright & sunny, it is said that the Cailleach is out gathering more fire wood ~ as the winter will last a while longer.

But! If the day is grey, wet or stormy, that she has overslept and the winter is almost over… 🌱
The light may be closer than you think ✨

Blessed winter Solstice ❄️
Tomorrow at 3:03pm is the exact point when the sun reaches its most southerly point and winter officially begins in the northern hemisphere.

It’s the turning point when the light begins to return ✨
Many of our modern Christmas traditions have grown out of the ancient celebration of Yule.

Yule is a time of death & rebirth.
Hope in the darkness
The suns return 🌞
And is a time for rest and quiet reflections.

So light a candle and reflect on the past year. What went well & what could have been better.
Feel gratitude for the people we have in our lives. And think of the ones no longer here 🤍 xx
