Aims:
This presentation aims to use personal reflections from a career in prosthodontics to explore changing clinical thinking and the wider global implications of tooth loss.
Objectives:
At the end of this presentation, participants will be able to:
1. Explain the role of reflective practice as a foundation for professional development
2. Describe key changes in prosthodontic concepts and treatment approaches and how these have evolved over the course of a practising career.
3. Discuss the public health significance of tooth loss, considering its impact within a global context.

Adela Peachey is a Specialist
Prosthodontist and has been enjoying restoring smiles with implant and conventional restorations for more than 25 years.
For the past 19 years she has worked at Blackhills Clinic, a specialist referral practice in Perthshire, Scotland.
She was instrumental in establishing the WIN (Women's Implantology Network) UK and Ireland initiative, joining the first UK WIN Committee in 2019 and has also been supporting the Global WIN initiative since 2018.
Adela strongly believes in the empowerment of education and has been furthering her own education outside of implant dentistry. Having successfully gained a Master's degree in Art and Humanities in 2023, she is now studying for a Master's degree in Dental Public Health at Dundee University and hopes to now pursue a career in Public Health.
