I am very grateful for all the support since I set up my business almost 7 years ago.
It has been a steep learning curve and it's still happening. Setting up your own business sounds wonderful and it is but you have to learn skills you never thought of before. If it was just about the practical booking appointments, giving treatments and hope that your clients feel the benefits, then it would be fairly easy.
The reality is that you need to be a book keeper, business planner, data protection and GDPR, creating consultation forms and cancellation policies, setting up a bank account, funding a suitable space to rent that fits your therapy, asking for payment, deciding how much to charge and how people can pay you, insurance, marketing manager, website creation, managing social media, networking, ongoing training, adapting to ebbs and flows of the business! Phew!!!π
So you, the clients are the reason why I have and am still learning all this. You make it all worthwhile because a lot of the above is way outside my comfort zone so you are my why. Your feedback is so important and is wonderful to hear when you feel the benefits.
Regarding the cancellation policy - mine is that ANY appointments cancelled within 24 hours of your appointment must be paid in FULL because it is very unlikely that I will be able to fill that appointment slot at short notice. Your payment helps me to do what I do - it goes towards room rental, petrol costs and car parking (especially in Dundee), insurance, tax payments, professional association membership and ongoing training.
Most people respect this policy and I thank them for that but occasional people don't so I'm just raising that awareness.
