Noticed your eye lids looking heavier? Let’s talk chemical brow lifts…
What causes this eye lid heaviness as we age?
Loss of collagen
From our mid 20’s, collagen production slows down and by our 40’s elastin fibres fragment. This can lead to our upper eye brow skin becoming thinner and less springy, and ‘hanging’ over our eyes.
Brow decent
The brow gradually drops with age due to:
-Weakening of the forehead muscle - the only muscle which pulls the brows up
-Increased dominance of the muscles around the eye that pull the brow down (think tug-of-war).
Fat pad changes and bone resorption also play a part.
In this case the downward pull of the muscles around the eye was very strong, and by weakening these muscles we allowed the tug-of-war to be won by the forehead muscles, giving a nice fresh, open look to the eyes and a lift to the eyebrows. 🤩
