What a fantastic Saturday session with the wonderful team at Little Stars Stirling! 👏

From the moment we started, it was clear how quick the team were to learn and confidently deliver first aid techniques, with plenty of hands-on practical application throughout the day. Having already completed their 6-hour online learning through Hubba Training, they came equipped with strong theoretical knowledge—ready to bring it to life in today’s reflective and practical session.

Through reflective practice, critical thinking, and experiential learning, the team strengthened their skills and supported the cognitive development needed to confidently refresh and apply their practice.

And what a beautiful setting to do it in! You can truly feel the care, compassion, and genuine love this team has for the families they support every day. đź’›

A pleasure to work with such a dedicated group—well done all!

All delivered at no cost to Little Stars Stirling, in partnership with ATS Childcare care find out how your setting can qualify.

🚨 FIRST AID GUIDANCE UPDATE 🚨

If you were taught baby choking first aid before… this has changed 👇

👶 Infants (under 1 year):

âś… After 5 back blows
👉 Now give 5 CHEST THRUSTS using TWO THUMBS

⚠️ Using the encircling technique
👉 Thumbs in the centre of the chest (sternum)

⸻

❌ OLD METHOD:
• Two fingers

âś… NEW METHOD:
• Two thumbs (encircling technique)

⸻

đźš« STILL IMPORTANT:
• NO abdominal thrusts in babies
• Thrusts are on the chest, not the abdomen

⸻

📞 Call 999 if:
• The object doesn’t clear
• The baby becomes unresponsive
• You’re concerned at any time

⸻

Working in early years, delivering first aid isn’t just about training adults, it’s about empowering children too.

Every day we work with children, we take time to reflect, talk, and gently teach them how to recognise when something isn’t right and how to seek help if they ever need to.

Because education isn’t just knowledge, it’s confidence, awareness, and the ability to act when it matters most.

Knowing what to do, when to do it, and who to call can make all the difference.

Today we were fortunate to deliver our Emergency Paediatric First Aid training with the fantastic team at Thrive’s Corner House Gillsland Nursery 🙌

It was a pleasure working with such a talented and dedicated group who are deeply committed to early years education and the pedagogical approaches to teaching and learning through first aid—with children, families, and staff.

The team brought a highly reflective mindset to the day, engaging in meaningful discussions and continuously connecting theory to practice. This critical, thoughtful approach carried right through our practical sessions, creating a powerful and engaging learning environment.

A brilliant day of learning, collaboration, and professional development 👏

Today’s Emergency Paediatric First Aid session with the fantastic team at Thrive’s Teviot House Nursery was a powerful reminder of what true dedication to early years care looks like.

The team showed incredible commitment to expanding their knowledge and deepening their understanding of first aid, asking thoughtful questions, sharing real experiences, and fully engaging in every scenario. It’s this level of enthusiasm that helps create safer environments for children to learn and grow.

We also took time to reflect on the current Care Inspectorate Duty of Candour approach, recognising the importance of openness, honesty, and learning when things don’t go as planned. These conversations are vital in building a culture of trust and continuous improvement.

A key theme throughout the session was understanding how not to become risk-averse, but instead to focus on safe, confident practice. In early years settings, it’s not about avoiding all risk, it’s about managing it effectively while still allowing children the freedom to explore, develop, and thrive.

A huge well done to the whole team today, your dedication makes a real difference.

Another fantastic collaboration in action.

We had the pleasure of working alongside ATS Childcare and Hubba Training to deliver a Paediatric (Blended) First Aid course for the incredible team at Currie Children’s Nursery — and even better… it was completely free!

From start to finish, the energy in the room was outstanding. The team brought real passion, openness, and professionalism, diving into discussions, reflecting on current practices, and fully engaging in every part of the training. Days like this remind us why we do what we do.

It flew by because every single candidate gave it their all.

A genuinely brilliant nursery to work with, and we’re already looking forward to supporting more of their dedicated early years staff when the time comes for their next training.
