December 13th .
Yule Blessings on the day the sun sets earliest here in the Northern Hemisphere.
December 13th was also the Winter Solstice, the shortest day of the year, in the old 'Julian' Calendar .
St. Lucia's Day is today celebrated by many in Scandinavian countries. Some may call it their festival of lights. Held on the earliest sunset day .
Blessings to all who follow this today.
St. Lucia's Day is now celebrated by a girl dressing in a white dress with a red sash round her waist and a crown of candles on her head.
The earliest sunset here in the UK is today, December 13, whilst the latest sunrise is not till December 29/30th. The day with the fewest daylight hours is the winter solstice, December 21. The winter solstice marks the shortest day. This is when the sun appears to stand still and then begins a new movement to lighter days , even on the first day of Winter.
We might expect this to be the day when the sun rises at its latest time and sets at its earliest time. But thatβs not the case.
However, all that matters is that no matter what your beliefs, your spiritual path , religion, culture, or faith, we all celebrate light over darkness. I see so many posts arguing about the origins of Christmas and other festivals. All that matters is what YOU believe in that gets you through this current earth life .
I personally love sharing celebrations of many different faiths and cultures from across the globe. After all, we are all souls finding our way home. Today, light a candle and know that a single flame can bring light into the darkest room. Keeping your internal light for life is what we are here for. β¨οΈ
Blessings for a beautiful day π β¨οΈ
