At Raham Project, our Monthly Lunch Club gives mothers, babies, and families from ethnic communities a safe, welcoming space to share a home-cooked, nutritious meal, make friends, and find support. 💜

We need £10,903 to run the Lunch Club for a full year — ensuring every mother can eat well and feel supported. Every extra pound will help fund Walk & Talk sessions and coffee mornings, creating even more social spaces for families to thrive.

This about sums it up. Each doula is different, and will be able to provide you with a slightly different version that suits you and your family and not a generic version that is the same for everyone.

What does a doula do?

If someone hadn't heard of the role of the doula before, it could easily be assumed that the majority of the work a doula does takes place in the birth environment, during the hours of labour.
In reality, the majority of birth doulas also spend a large amount of their time helping women to prepare for and plan their birth. Helping a client to understand the physiology of birth, to trust their own body and to know their rights and options can play a huge factor in reducing fear around birth and helping them to have a positive and empowering birth experience.
By the time it comes to the birth, a doula can then have a deep understanding of their clients wishes and will work to ensure that the choices of their client are respected.

Labour can be painful, so it's important to learn about all the ways that you can relieve the pain. It's also helpful for whoever is going to be with you during your labour to know about the different options, as well as how they can support you.

Did you have a plan for how you wanted to labor and give birth? What type of pain relief did you take? Where you told about the different types of pain relief?

There are many different ways to labor and give birth. Not everyway will work for everyone. As Doulas, we support your choice to labor any way you want.

We tell you about different pain relief methods, some you may not even have heard of. I didn't, and I gave birth 4 times. I found out about some wonderful pain reliefs during my doula course, and I wish they were more widely known.

Not everyone wants a clinical birth, with drugs. Check out info graphics on pain relief, you may be surprised at how many there are, medical and non medicinal.

At the end of the day, no matter how you choose to labor and birth, I will support you and make sure you feel safe and happy.
