Yoni. V***a. Va**na. Such an incredible body part. Sacred. Like a purse they open out so, so beautifully to allow your babe to be birthed. Gently returning back. Today I spent extra time talking to a new momma who had unfortunately undergone an episiotomy (not from my cares!). Teaching her how love to care and help herself heal.
I can never stop talking about the importance of practicing good pelvic floor exercises during pregnancy and post natally ... In fact at any time... I've even told my 9 year old about hers. Get birth informed.

My name is Lucy, I'm a hypnobirthing teacher and also a midwife.
I feel now more than ever women need to regain the birthing power. It's all over the news, you can't escape it. Midwives are tremendously over worked, understaffed, and experiencing burn out. Midwifery should be the most magical job ever.

We are the green witches.

I teach hypnobirthing because as an experienced birth worker, I believe it is essential that women KNOW what to expect and how to deal with it. Ignorance certainly isn't bliss. With the likes of the fast growing medicalisation of birth, we need to make some big changes.

Highlights

Every now and then I get to be part of a magical, empowering, calm and blooming emotional birth, and even help catch the babe!! . My hypnobirthing client listened to everything I had taught over my 12 hour hypnobirthing course. She was amazing, she was calm, she laughed, she breathed, she groaned, she smiled, she rocked, she trusted herself and her babe, she was in awe of her power and strength, she birthed her babe beautifully unassisted! Bliss

I know there is HOPE
I know women can do it
I know hypnobirthing works
I know because I get to see it.

One year ago today about this time I went in for an operation that I didn't know whether I'd wake up from. Being told before you go down, that "they'll do their best to keep me safe." Is a scary thing to hear. I had 2 surgeons work 9 hours to remove a tumour that had grown so big on my mandible that it had started to constrict my carotid artery. I felt terrible, but I had so my belief in my heart that I would be fine. I had the support of my family and friends, all sending me strength, in whatever form that worked for them .. and I felt it in my soul. Whilst under, I was in a beautiful safe space, held by my loved ones.
Since the op, I've had numerous fall backs but overall it's been a success; without the op I wouldn't be here now, I'm eternally grateful to my 2 surgeons. Next chapter, jaw replacement.... Bring it on (whenever that may be)

I'm so proud proud be a midwife. Every shift I help protect the birthing realm. I listen, support, nurture and gently guide. To be with woman, on her journey, unconditionally and without judgement or hesitation.
It's not a job for the faint hearted, but my heart truly belongs in this role... Through thick and thin.
Big love to all my fellow midwives... You are doing a great job, be kind to yourself ###
