I went to a lovely yoga retreat at the weekend. Thanks to Adrianna for making the day so special. From the beautiful room at Barnsdale to the sunshine, after a not so good forecast! The yoga, meditation, sound healing, journaling and lovely brunch. Followed by the outdoor spa and a wonderful massage by the very knowledgeable Jagita. It was a really enjoyable and relaxing day. Look out for the next one, you won't regret it 🥰

I have recently had hypnotherapy for claustrophobia from with the lovely Lisa.
She had hypnotherapy with me for a flying phobia and has just got back from Crete where she even enjoyed her flights with no dread leading up to them!
Flying is a specific phobia that takes only three sessions.
Claustrophobia can be more complex but the change I have experienced is remarkable. No more panic and avoiding confined spaces for me!
Hypnotherapy can calm the part of the brain that triggers a 'fight or flight' response and instead allows your logical mind to take back control.
If you or someone you know is avoiding certain places or situations then there is a way forward. Your brain is powerful and with the right help it can relearn how to feel calm, safe and in control.

I went for a lovely cuppa and brownie at Eventus last week. I got such a friendly welcome and thoroughly enjoyed being out of the house for a while. I did a bit of admin while I was there but more importantly it felt like I’d had a break from the same routine😅

It got me thinking that it might be nice to share that experience with other people. If, like me, you run a small business and spend a lot of time at home, you may be feeling the same🙃

This will be very casual. You can turn up and stay for five minutes, or two hours. Maybe get a late breakfast or brunch. Chat and meet new people, or sit quietly and get some work done while feeling part of a group🤓

There is a car park, free WIFI, fully accessible facilities and of course an amazing cake selection!🍰

Social interaction is so important to our wellbeing so please join me in the comfy seats/carpeted area of the cafe. If you would prefer me to meet you at the entrance then please contact me beforehand; also if you have any questions❓

Looking forward to meeting you 👋

Nikki ☺️

More than half of the population will experience menopause and more recently there has been a lot more information about it.
My experience started before that happened and like most of my friends we went through a time of confusion and delay in finding the help we needed.
There are many symptoms that we may experience and these can last for many years.
I have written a blog post about how I navigated the menopause that includes medication and therapy that I have tried.
Please have a read if you think it may help you.

Did you watch Playing Nice on ITV last night? Or am I the only one watching live TV!

My body was physically experiencing stress even though it was my imagination causing it. As your brain largely doesn't know the difference between imagination and reality, it will react in much the same way as if you are really experiencing it.

This does not only apply to TV dramas, how you react and think about any situation can lead to producing stress hormones, like cortisol, based on how you are feeling and not necessarily what is happening.

The exact same situation may have a totally different effect on someone else depending on how they perceive it.

We are what we think and if you would like to find out more about how I can help you change the way you think then please get in touch.

I offer a free initial consultation so let's get started ☺️

🌟Can you relate, would you like to be feeling like this?🌟

This is an edited version of the review as it was so extensive but it is always lovely to receive such wonderful feedback.

The client is very happy, I am too but not only that, this client then passed on this new knowledge to people at work.

I love this domino effect and it doesn't have to just be in therapy. Everything we do throughout our day can positively impact others and spread some joy.

😊Please message me if you would like to find out more about how I can help 😊

🌟Happy New Year🌟

At this time of the year it is usual to reflect and make plans for the future. We often make big and bold statements about all the changes we intend to make and struggle to fulfill them.

The key is to make small, manageable changes. Perhaps adding more positive actions to our routine rather than removing all the things we enjoy.

Over time these steps will add up to bigger changes, while the changes we started earlier are now becoming part of our usual routine.

When we fill our lives with positive actions, interactions and thoughts we leave little room for the negative. Our brain will start to change too, searching out more positive things and not noticing the negative so much.

I hope 2025 is everything you would like it to be 🥰

However, if you would like help to make lasting, positive changes that will spill over into every aspect of your life, please contact me for a free initial consultation where we can discuss your hopes for the future and how I can help 😊

This is a painting I did at a Paint and Sip party that I treated a friend to for her birthday present. I do not consider myself to be artistic but I fancied a try and was delighted at how much better it turned out than I expected it to 😅

If I spent some 'consistent' time perfecting my new found skill then I would expect to be able to create better and more satisfying pictures in time☺️

Sometimes we limit ourselves to the beliefs that we hold about our own abilities. Consistency really is how we get better at things, overcome challenges, build strength and resilience and establish good habits. This can then create the momentum needed to reach our goals 🥳

How your gut and brain are connected: New insights into depression and emotional wellbeing

Did you know that the bacteria living in your gut could be affecting your mental health? A new study has uncovered a fascinating connection between gut bacteria and how the brain functions in people with depression. This research highlights the important link between our physical and mental health, a concept that solution-focused hypnotherapy embraces.

What does the hippocampus do?

The hippocampus is a small part of your brain that plays a big role in how you think and feel. It helps with memory, learning and managing emotions. When you’re feeling low or stressed for a long time, this part of the brain can shrink or stop working as well. This can make it harder to cope with stress, learn new habits or break free from negative thought patterns.
In people with depression, changes in the hippocampus often lead to emotional struggles...
