Good evening, loves 🌙
An important seasonal update from Sarun…

Summer has been full — abundantly, wildly, beautifully busy.
Now, as the air cools and the light softens, I feel autumn calling me deep into my bones.

This is the season to go inward, to consolidate, to listen.
At Sarun, we’re answering that call — taking time to nourish our vision, deepen our offerings, and tend to the long roots of what’s growing here.

Just as the soil works quietly in her darkness to prepare for spring’s bloom,
we too are working beneath the surface — dreaming, refining, preparing.
It feels so beautiful to move with the rhythm of the seasons,
to feel her working through me, reminding me that rest is sacred too.

✨ While I’ll be pausing frequent circles for now,
I’ll still be offering “pop-up” gatherings through the winter —
moments of warmth, music, and connection to carry us through the darker months.

Keep an eye here — the magic will appear when you least expect it. 🍂
With love,
Dilraj x

“No Silly Homes” 🏠✨

Loved this quote from one of our young leaders today at the National Citizens UK Housing Action — a beautiful reminder of why we do what we do.

Working to create systemic change in housing is no easy feat. But through broad-based community organising, we learn to slice BIG problems into winnable pieces of change — and that gives us hope.

One of our National leaders shared how their campaign secured £11 million in homelessness funding — specifically targeting the five basic needs in temporary accommodation. That’s people power in action. 💪

This week in Peterborough, our team has been planning, strategising, and building power for two key local housing campaigns:

1️⃣ Creating a notification system with Peterborough City Council so that schools are informed when children become homeless — ensuring early support and stability.
2️⃣ Securing funding in the new warm homes plan to tackle damp and mould — because every family deserves a safe, healthy home.

A big shoutout to Gemma Birley from PECT who co-chaired today’s national campaign meeting in Parliament with diligence and heart — and to our Andrew Pakes and Sam Carling MP MPs who pledged to:
• Engage with Minister Martin McCluskey (Housing)
• Work with local housing associations to identify and repair key issues

“No Silly Homes” — a powerful phrase from a young voice that captures the truth we’re all fighting for: every home should be a place of safety, dignity, and hope. 💚

I get obsessed with a song.
It's rhythm.
It's various pitches.
It's beautiful lyrics and depth.
And I fall into it deep.
I get it wrong. Come in a beat too early. Play the wrong chord.
But then desperately want to practice practice practice.
Play it to my teacher. Get improvements. And then practice again.
Tap the rhythm in car journeys. See if I can hit a pitch in the morning and the evening when I'm tired.

This is the reality of practicing an art.

And the practice is medicine.
The discipline is mastery.

✨ The Power of Mantra as Practice ✨

Across yogic and Eastern philosophy, as well as many spiritual traditions, the deep wisdom of song and mantra has been recognised for centuries. My own yogic and Sikh teachings have shown me that “man” means mind and “tra” means vibration—ancient knowledge that speaks directly to how we shape our inner world.

Modern science is now catching up, too. Researchers like Lisa Feldman Barrett, David Eagleman, and Marian Diamond have shown that our brains are constantly rewiring (neuroplasticity) and that repetition shapes our neural pathways.

💡They say-
• Your brain doesn’t believe what’s true—it believes what you repeat.
• Your thoughts shape your feelings.
• Your feelings drive your actions.
• Your actions become your identity.
• And because your brain is always rewiring, who you are is always evolving.

The video above was written by my son and composed by his mummy—me! Bringing mantra into our lives has been one of the greatest blessings. I am endlessly grateful for this ancient wisdom and its power to guide us in every moment. 🌸

Happy Equinox 🌍✨
(Balance of darkness and Light)

At a time when we may feel far from balance, Mother Earth and the universe remind us that balance is always present — it is only our minds, and the state of the human world, that are unsettled.

May we find balance within ourselves.
May those weighed down by fear discover balance within, so that together we can live in harmony with Gaia — as we are meant to.

🚨 Culture Wars Are a Distraction

Everywhere I look, the conversation is dominated by race and small boats. The right weaponises it. The left reacts to it. Both sides fall into the same culture-war trap.

Meanwhile, the real issue — wealth inequality — barely gets a mention.

Headlines scream about race and small boats.
The right weaponises it. The left reacts to it.
Both sides get trapped.

Meanwhile, the real issue — wealth inequality — barely makes the news.

📊 The Numbers That Matter
• Top 1% of UK households own £2.8 trillion — more than the poorest 70% combined.
• They hold 10% of all household wealth.
• Govt spends £2bn a year housing small-boat asylum seekers (≈ £8m a day).

That’s a 1,000-to-1 gap. Yet we’re told migrants are the problem.

🏠 What It Means for Us
• Wages stagnate while shareholder dividends soar.
• Housing costs rocket while families struggle.
• Public services collapse while tax loopholes stay wide open.

Inequality — not migration — is what’s crushing working people.

💰 Who Gains From the Distraction?
Reform UK is backed by billionaires:
• Nick Candy (property tycoon)
• Christopher Harborne (£10m to Brexit Party)
• Fiona Cottrell (£500k in 2024)
• Zia Yusuf (Reform Chair)
• Even Elon Musk (Guardian, 2024)

They fuel culture wars to protect their wealth. And too many of us take the bait.

🌱 What We Should Demand Instead
• Fair tax for the wealthiest
• Affordable housing reform
• Wage growth + secure jobs
• Investment in public services

The real problem isn’t migrants. It’s inequality.

✨ Hope
Research shows real change only takes 3.5% of people organising together. A small, united movement can shift the system.

👀 Open your eyes.
⚡️ See the bigger picture.
✊ Demand change where it matters.

I know it’s sunny today...but we’ve just been through a storm!

I saw a post on the 6 laws of maturity and I have been reflecting on them.

The first one -
*Control Yourself, Not Others*

From Dark 🌑
• Playing the blame game.
• Asking others to change, with little willingness to change yourself.
• Expecting apologies without offering one.
• Believing the other person is always in the wrong.
• Shaming or gaslighting when others don’t do what you want.
• Saying you’re “triggered” but being unable to acknowledge how your actions may have triggered someone else.

To Light 🌕
• Taking responsibility for your own actions and asking, “What can I do?”
• Choosing to shift your own attitude or behaviour in a situation.
• Hearing an apology with understanding, while recognising it takes two to tango.
• Offering your own apology and taking accountability for your actions.
~Dilraj Kaur.

Are these helpful reflection points ...? So much I’ve probably missed. Your reflections and feedback welcome 🙏🏽🔥

This summer has been a hard grind — lots of physical labour with the refurb, endless decisions, and LOTS of kid-time. Beautiful in some ways… but scarce time for myself, alone time, and couple time. I miss it.

The dream is unfolding… 🌞
is now powered by the sun! 🔆
This morning I explained to my kids how most electricity comes from burning fossil fuels—and how this is our small step towards a cleaner, brighter future.
Feeling grateful, hopeful, and emotional. 💛

Kundalini Yoga with Dilraj Kaur

Sat Nam Beautiful Souls. My name is Dilraj Kaur and I have been practising yoga for over a decade. I was introduced to Kundalini yoga in 2008 and learned quickly why KY is ‘The Mother of All Yoga’ as it transformed my life. I am also a Secondary School teacher, I trained in inner London in 2009, where I taught for 5 years. When I met my husband, we made a conscious decision to strive for a peaceful, balanced and meditative lifestyle. After living in London for 26 years, in 2014 we moved to a village in Peterborough and I have been teaching in Bourne since.

I have taught KY in Sikh camps and meditative retreats over the years. I am continuing my teacher training for Kundalini Yoga with Karam Kriya School in London. My teachers Angad Kaur and Shiv Charan are World leaders in Kundalini Yoga. In August 2019 I will be staying in the Ashram of Karam Kriya School (Portugal) to further my understanding and knowledge of Kundalini Yoga.

Kundalini Yoga practises many mantras originating within the Sikh Scriptures. My soul has been born into ‘Sikh’ lineage, which translates to learner and disciple. I strive and seek for; a deeper understanding of balance, love and neutrality in my life. My discipline resides in learning true knowledge from my Gurus, Kundalini Yoga and singing mantras with my guitar and Husband. My Husband and I fell in love through our love of music. We immerse in Sikh devotional singing which is rooted in the heart of Kundalini Yoga. We also sing at Sikh events, weddings and retreats. As a teacher I feel inspired to share love and unity with my students through Kundalini yoga and music.
