15 years ago I started up Great Feet, when websites were very different creatures and not everyone used them. After realising how out of date it was, (is it just me that just leaves them sitting there, I have a website so all is good 🫣) I have had it updated by the wonderful Gift of the Gab Web Design after asking just a couple of days before if she could do it! Super efficient.

A lady came to me and asked me what I thought of her thumb nail that looked like this.

I said you must go to the doctors straight away, I try to avoid scaring people and not mention scary things that I am not qualified to diagnose on sight but had to mention that it can be a sign of cancer to try and get her to take it seriously. She spoke to numerous people, some of whom should have known better, who told her not to over react and it was nothing.

Today she came in and told me it is in fact cancer, and she is having half her thumb removed.

This is the cancer that Bob Marley died of because he refused to have his toe removed.

It’s rare, it’s the first time I have seen it in nearly 13 years, but it happens. Please do not ignore black lines in your nails. Any black mark in your nail that does not grow up/move up as your nail grows MUST BE CHECKED.

As with most businesses, I will be continuing with trying to stay Covid secure and wearing my mask, I ask that you do too. Whilst the weather is so lovely I will also request we sit near an open door or window or even outside.

Please be respectful and cancel your appointment if you have symptoms, tested positive or been near anyone who has.

Southdowns Chiropractic patients please be aware that nothing will change here either, please turn up on time, not early, and press the bell on arrival.

I’m very pleased to announce that 2 weeks ago today I had my Covid Vaccine.

I Obviously can’t guarantee that this means I do not have the virus and will continue to wear PPE and ask my customers to wear their masks.

I know a lot of my lovely customers have also had their vaccines and I’m sure you all feel the same as me, a great sense of relief that we may be able to tackle this virus and live our lives without fear.

I feel very grateful to live in the UK at the moment because of the massive strides we are taking in the vaccination programme and live in hope that it will work, and that we are all becoming safer by the day.

Boris was quite clear that healthcare can still take place and is almost encouraged.

So all appointments will go ahead as planned. However, I understand that some of you will be concerned and if you would like to cancel, please let me know.

I will call everyone before their appointment to make sure they are happy to go ahead and that they do not have Covid symptoms or have come in to contact with anyone with symptoms. PPE will of course also be worn as it has been since the start of the pandemic.

We must remember that health is paramount and we must not let our health deteriorate in these times.

Stay safe and let’s look after ourselves.

This is so important. COVID wards are not near A and E wards. If you need help or are concerned about something, GP’s are still operating, as are ambulances and A and E. they are still treating the very serious issues in hospitals.

Whilst I am still closed for routine work, I can also see you if there is risk to your limb or life and the biggest sign of this is infection. So if you have any signs of infection, and need to be seen, don’t be afraid to get in touch.

People needing help should not be put off by the coronavirus pandemic, say health professionals.

I have decided to close down for 2 weeks in the hope that we can stop the spread of this thing and start to perhaps see a light at the end of the tunnel after that.

In light of new government guidelines, I will be phoning all customers before their visit to check if they have any symptoms. It goes without saying, if you have any, I will not be able to visit.

For anyone over 70 and the vulnerable, you will be taken on a case by case basis. I am still able to visit if you feel comfortable with seeing me and there is a clinical need.

I have already taken extra precautions like using alcohol gel more regularly and trying not to touch surfaces, pens and door handles in peoples homes. Clinics have access to soap, water, towels and gel and surfaces are being wiped regularly.

This is an ever changing situation and more advice is due at the end of this week, if necessary my working practices could change again.

Please also be aware that I will be giving out information to anyone I speak to who is vulnerable and concerned about isolating and getting anything they need. The community is pulling together and there is lots of people helping anyone in need. No one should feel alone.
