Pickering Medical Practice Pickering Medical Practice provides care for over 11,000 patients in the Pickering area.

We have seven GPs, a highly trained team of nurses and many allied health professionals working together at the main practice site on Southgate in Pickering and at our branch surgery in Thornton Le Dale.

From October to March we can’t make enough vitamin D from sunlight, so to keep bones and muscles healthy, it’s best to take a daily 10 microgram supplement of vitamin D. You can get vitamin D from most pharmacies and retailers.

🌟 Retirement News from PMP 🌟

After many years at the practice, the time has come for me to retire at the end of February. It has been a genuine privilege to work alongside such an exceptional group of clinicians and staff. Their dedication, compassion, and professionalism have made every day meaningful, and I feel incredibly fortunate to have been part of this team.

Most of all, it has been an honour to be involved in the lives of our patients. To be trusted with their care, their stories, and their wellbeing is something I have never taken for granted. I am truly humbled by the kindness, resilience, and humanity I have witnessed over the years.

As I step into this next chapter, I carry with me deep gratitude for the people I have worked with and the community we have served. Thank you for allowing me to be part of something so special.

Our Take-A-Test-UK patient self-swabbing pathway is a great way to encourage patients to request a swab kit at the earliest signs of flu.
Patients that are registered at Pickering Medical Practice are able to request a self-swab kit to be sent to their home address without the need to come into surgery. All you need to do is swab as per the instructions and return with the envelope provided. Please use B82033 as the voucher code and you will also need your NHS number. You will receive the results directly from the study team who test for Influenza, Covid, and RSV among other infections.

From 1 January 2026, children will be offered MMRV vaccine as part of the routine childhood schedule of immunisations. MMRV vaccine protects children against measles, mumps, rubella and varicella (chickenpox).

When should I order?
⌚ For prescriptions needed BEFORE Christmas, please order these by 17th December.
⌚ For prescriptions needed BEFORE the New Year, please order these by 22nd December.

We are closed 25th & 26th December and 1st January but otherwise open as normal.

A friendly reminder, to help us prepare everything accurately and get your medications ready on time, please wait 5 working days after placing your order before collecting your prescription.
