I struggle to adjust at this time of year, the shorter days and loss of light don’t fill me with joy like so many. The thing I do enjoy is collecting the Autumn harvests to prepare for the long dark winter… today I foraged Mullien Leaves for my medicine store, the last of the nettle leaves and remaining seeds…. (One of my absolute favourite power houses of nutritional importance) Hawthorn Berries, for tinctures and drying for herbal teas (balancing my emotional and physical heart health). I also struck gold with a small patch of St John’s Wort in flower, which is now seeping in almond oil ready to be made into balms. We snacked on Blackberry and a few remaining apples, this felt good, productive, nurturing. I think simplifying our way of living, sending roots back into the earth, trusting that plants will heal us is incredibly empowering in this modern culture of fear. .
