REFRAME; the “R” in my DRIVE model for anxious drivers.

When anxiety takes over, your mind can become a storyteller… and not always a kind one. Your inner critic goes into overdrive leaving you anxious and fearful of making a mistake.

Reframe is about gently challenging those automatic thoughts and creating space for new, calmer possibilities. Driving anxiety is rarely about lack of driving skill, it’s often a negative feedback loop which has gained momentum causing you to become stuck.

Reframing isn’t pretending or replacing a negative thought with a helpful one. It’s about a gentle shift over time with practice and therapy together.

It’s choosing a perspective that supports you, steadies you, and brings you back into your power with strong powerful visualisation under hypnosis and practice.

A small shift in thought can become a big shift in confidence and it starts with your subconscious mind. Simply thinking more positively will not change things, it’s about a shift on a deeper level so you believe in yourself and your capabilities.

When driving anxiety shows up, the nervous system often goes straight into fight-or-flight.
De-Stress is all about helping your body step out of that state so you can think clearly, breathe steady, and stay present on the road.

In this stage, we focus on:
• calming the body through breath and grounding
• relaxing the muscles that hold tension
• soothing the mind with simple, repeatable techniques

What’s all that about? You may be asking….

It’s counselling placement day today and this is what I’m taking in my tool box. I knew it wouldn’t be long until being creative featured in my work. This type of work also lends itself to coaching for personal growth and development.

Everyday brings something new to explore and learn which is why I feel so blessed in my work🌈🙌

Over twenty years ago, I decided that my work life needed to be purposeful and reflect my inner values. I went self employed after having a secure, well paid salaried job with a pension.

In the past, I’ve been in that job, the one where I was so unhappy, (local government as an accounts clerk) that I fell into because of circumstances and lack of other opportunities in my locality. I know what it is to not fit in at work and feel trapped by my lot - 10 years later things changed…….🎉. Those circumstances gave me the opportunity to learn many skills and showed me aspects of myself that I could take forward, training for example. Even being somewhere where I didn’t fit was a valuable experience in the end but the fact of the matter was - I had to do something radical! Move, change and retrain and invest in me….

My work now is my offering to the world based on what I’ve learned about myself and allows me to feel like I’m making a difference, even if it’s just a tiny step in the right direction every day.

I hope that you are having a peaceful day staying true to yourself, doing you in your way. 💚💚
