I get asked this all the time, and the answer is…as often as you need it but ONLY if it’s needed.

There is no time frame within which you can’t have wax removed again.
Everyone is different and some people just make more wax than others, more quickly than others! For some people that might be 3 months, for others it might be 3 years. Some people will never need it and some will need it once in their life and never again.

It’s just not recommended to have your ears irrigated/syringed if it doesn’t NEED to be as there are risks with everything (even if it does feel delightfully satisfying!).

Exotosis can be incredibly frustrating and if the canal is significantly narrowed a small amount of wax can easily completely occlude the canal, impairing hearing.
Water can also sit behind the bony overgrowth resulting in impaired hearing and infection.
