Yesterday was a truly horrible day but I won’t bore you with the details. It’s been a concerted effort to get myself back on track but here’s what I do when I’m emotionally out of whack.
• cry lots and let the emotions run their course as much as possible
• take what action I can to improve things even in small ways
• spend time with people who love me without question, doing things which help us feel nurtured
• ask my guides for music to help me or guide me what to do next
• ask my guides and guardians to show me things I need to see to help me understand what’s happening
• ask my ancestors and spirit animal family (animals I’ve loved and who died) to help me find a way out of the challenges
•seek simple reminders of what makes me smile, brings joy and what I appreciate.
So, after songs on random in the shower which told me to release the worry and pain, it’s been a day spent with my wonderful eldest son, going for a coffee together, messages from the birds we saw, and then coming home with food treats to sit and watch a film and cuddle up.
Sometimes (in fact pretty much every time), the signs and help are subtle and rely on you quietening your mind to be able to hear them. Being able to quieten your mind to be able to hear is a key skill in the development of spiritual practice. It’s not the big dramatic stuff that has power. It’s the quiet bits that are the nuggets you need to hold on to.
