Ｗｈａｔ Ａ Ｓｐｌａｓｈ-Ｔａｓｔｉｃ Ｄａｙ!

Our Tamara House residents took a trip to Plymouth’s National Marine Aquarium on Sutton Harbour, and let’s just say—we made a few fishy new friends!

From the local shores of Plymouth Sound to Australia’s colourful coral reefs, we wandered through the oceans without getting our feet wet. We met sharks, stingrays, octopuses, jellyfish… and two VERY cheeky turtles who were clearly the stars of the show.

Lots of laughs, lots of smiles, and maybe one or two residents who are now convinced they speak fluent “turtle.”

Already planning our next underwater adventure!

What a joyful afternoon we had when the Plymouth Ukulele Band came to visit!

Our lounge was packed with residents clapping, swaying, and singing along to some old favourites — and a few even got up to have a little dance! 💃🕺

The music filled the room with smiles and laughter, and everyone agreed it was a wonderfully entertaining and uplifting performance.

A huge thank you to the Plymouth Ukulele Band for bringing their infectious energy and wonderful tunes to our residents.

This afternoon our lovely residents were treated to a wonderful musical session with the talented Michelle, who filled the room with beautiful songs and cheerful tunes. 🎤

Everyone had such a fantastic time singing along, tapping to the beat, and even trying out a few instruments themselves! 🪇

It’s always amazing to see how music brings so much joy, laughter, and connection to our community.

A big thank you to Michelle for sharing her talent and brightening our day — we can’t wait to have you back soon! 🎶

What a spook-tacular day we had celebrating Halloween!

Our residents and team got into the spooky spirit with a fantastic Halloween party, complete with pumpkin carving, a fancy dress competition, and plenty of laughter all around! 🎃

We also enjoyed some Halloween-themed colouring and word searches, along with some delicious treats and goodies – no tricks here! 🍬

A big thank you to everyone who joined in the fun and helped make the day so special. 💜

Our residents and staff have been getting into the autumn spirit — from spooky ghosts to beautiful autumn wreaths, it’s been a wonderful mix of laughter, creativity, and community!

𝖥𝗋𝗈𝗆 𝖲𝗇𝖺𝗂𝗅𝗌 𝗍𝗈 𝖲𝗇𝖺𝗄𝖾𝗌 – 𝖨𝗍 𝖶𝖺𝗌 𝖹𝗈𝗈 𝖬𝗎𝖼𝗁 𝖥𝗎𝗇!

Our residents had an amazing afternoon meeting some fascinating creatures, thanks to a special visit from ZooLab! 🦎

Everyone enjoyed learning about the different animals — from the mysterious scorpion to the colourful tree frog. The bravest among us even had the chance to hold an African land snail, a cockroach, a millipede, and a corn snake! 🐍

There were lots of smiles, laughs, and a few squeals of surprise — but mostly, plenty of curiosity and joy.

A huge thank you to the wonderful ZooLab team for bringing this unforgettable experience to Bethany House!

𝐴𝑛 𝐴𝑏𝑏𝑒𝑦-𝑠𝑜𝑙𝑢𝑡𝑒𝑙𝑦 𝑊𝑜𝑛𝑑𝑒𝑟𝑓𝑢𝑙 𝐷𝑎𝑦 𝑂𝑢𝑡!

This week, Andrew — one of our Balmain Care Homes residents — enjoyed a lovely visit to Buckland Abbey, a beautiful National Trust site that’s part museum and part historic home.

Andrew explored the Abbey’s fascinating collection of treasures, strolled through the walled kitchen garden and wild garden areas, and took in the stunning views of the Abbey and surrounding countryside.

Of course, no trip would be complete without a delicious lunch at the Ox Yard Café, where everyone enjoyed a well-earned rest and a bite to eat. ☕🍰

It was a fantastic day full of history, fresh air, and smiles all round! 💚

We’re incredibly proud to share that Gemma, our amazing Deputy Manager at Trenant House, has been named Employee of the Year at the Plymouth Community Awards 2025!

The Plymouth Community Awards celebrate those who inspire through compassion, resilience, and dedication to making a difference — and Gemma truly embodies all of these qualities. Her compassion and positivity shine through every day, inspiring her team and ensuring every resident feels valued, supported, and cared for. 💛

The awards ceremony took place last night (Saturday 11th October) at the beautiful Crowne Plaza Hotel in Plymouth, where Gemma was joined by Louise, Registered Manager at Trenant House, and Stacey, Registered Manager at Bethany House — representing the Karlyon Care Ltd family with pride.

Our lovely residents had a wonderful time this week taking part in a flower arranging activity. The room was full of colour, creativity, and smiles as everyone designed their own beautiful displays.

Activities like these not only bring joy but also encourage relaxation, social connection, and a real sense of achievement. We’re so proud of the stunning arrangements our residents created — true works of art!
