***Saving lives***

Earlier in the year Arterne CIC applied for funding from the British Heart Foundation to fit a defib outside of The Op Shop: A place to buy items whilst supporting communities which was successful

The defib was fitted in February 2025 and registered live in March 2025

South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust has called for the defib at an emergency situation 7 times

Here is our defib report summary for usage in 2025 since it’s been fitted;

June x1
July x3
August x1
November x2

Arterne CIC supports people with their feelings of loss and grief all year through

Today is the last day of National Grief Awareness week 2025 although this doesn’t mean thoughts and feelings stop here

Arterne CIC continues to raise awareness about loss and grief as well as supporting those people who need it

We have repurposed the post box donated to us by Kaya Gallery and will be placing it outside of The Op Shop: A place to buy items whilst supporting communities through December so that people can write to a loved one that is no longer with us and post it

Sometimes we crave the conversations that we cannot have directly and we hope that some people find comfort in being able to post a letter or a card to the person they are missing the most

Watch this space for updates 💜

It’s national grief awareness week and we aim to support people in the community all year through

Often people look for signs that their loved one, who has died, is still near

What gives you reassurance that your loved one is near?

Great to catch up with Cindy and her husband Andy, who came up to Westminster last week to attend a health and social care event with Baroness Watkins of Tavistock.

It was lovely to sit down over a cup of tea beforehand to hear more about the fantastic work they’re doing for our community and pop to the Terrace to check out the view!

Today is Carers Rights Day!

In Plymouth there are over 23,000 unpaid carers, and around 1,300 young carers, who care for friends or family members who need help and support due to illness, disability, mental health conditions or addiction.

We want to make sure all local unpaid carers get the recognition and help they deserve. 💙

Improving Lives Plymouth is hosting a free Family Fun Day on Saturday 29 November, 10am to 2pm at the Life Centre. As well as lots of fun activities for the whole family, you'll find advice and guidance to help you in your caring role.
