🍬 Guess the Sweets Winner! 🍬

We had great fun with our Guess How Many Sweets in the Jar competition, and our lovely resident Marion guessed closest with 83 — the jar held 85! 🎉
Huge well done, Marion… just don’t eat them all at once! 😄

What an absolutely fantastic morning we’ve had today! 🎶
We were treated to a wonderful live performance from the amazing Mark, who had everyone smiling, singing along, and even up on their feet dancing. The room was filled with laughter, cheerfulness, and so much positive energy as both residents and staff joined in the fun.
Music truly has a special way of bringing people together, sparking memories, lifting spirits, and creating meaningful moments—especially for those living with dementia. Today was a beautiful reminder of just how powerful music can be, and it was a joy to see so many happy faces enjoying every second. 💃🕺
Thank you, Mark, for such a lively and uplifting morning—we can’t wait to have you back!

This morning we were treated to an amazing live singer called mark, who truly lifted the room! Residents loved watching staff join in the fun with a little boogie woogie, creating lots of smiles, laughter, and wonderful memories together. 💃🎶

🎉 Over the weekend, our handsome resident William celebrated his 78th birthday! 🥳 Staff and his daughter joined together to sing Happy Birthday, and he did an amazing job blowing out all his candles — not bad at all for 78!

Last week at our care home was full of creativity and music! Our Articality group got busy designing a beautiful banner for our Garden Club ready for its spring opening, and the room was buzzing with excitement. We were also treated to a wonderful performance from Alison, who sang all the classics, followed by a fun karaoke session led by Shanice, our fantastic Musicality Lead. It was a joyful week filled with smiles, singing, and teamwork! 🌼🎤

Multi-sensory environments, traditionally known as Snoezelen rooms, are specially designed therapeutic spaces that soothe and stimulate senses in a controlled manner.

On Thursday Tara took William and John into our sensory room. With relaxing music and calming lights.

Today has been a lovely day in our home! This morning we enjoyed hair and beauty sessions, with fresh cuts for the gentlemen, styling for the ladies, relaxing hand massages, and some nail painting. Residents also made the most of one-to-one time, gentle walks, a visit to our little pub for a glass of non-alcoholic wine, armchair exercises, and garden strolls. We also celebrated a very special occasion — happy 83rd birthday to Harry, complete with a big sing-along of Happy Birthday! 🎉

HAPPY CAREGIVERS DAY!
Yesterday at our Articality Club, our wonderful residents created a beautiful banner in preparation for National Caregivers Day, with Lizzie, our fantastic care assistant on MV2, helping by adding a lovely floral touch. Today, we celebrated with a live music event and a special buffet for both residents and carers as a heartfelt thank you. At the end of the singing, residents proudly presented the carers with their handmade banner, followed by a truly magical moment as one resident’s touching caregiver’s poem — which he created and was read aloud to everyone. This afternoon, I spent some one-to-one time with some other residents, sharing the poem and the banner with them. It’s been a fantastic day filled with smiles, appreciation, and high spirits all around. 💛

We’ve had a wonderful day here at Devonshire House & Lodge! This morning our hairdresser visited and helped our lovely ladies feel extra beautiful, while some of the gentlemen enjoyed a fresh shave and a well-earned beer. This afternoon the fun continued with Pancake Day celebrations — lots of laughter as we flipped pancakes and shared 13 fun fact about Shrove Tuesday:

The largest pancake ever made measured an incredible 15 metres wide, 2.5 cm deep, weighed 3 tons, and contained around 2 million calories! Thankfully ours were much smaller… although we dare not count how many we might eat! 🥞

We’ve been celebrating the spirit of Valentine’s all around the home! Yesterday we enjoyed a lovely love-themed movie in our cinema room to get everyone in the mood, and today has been just as special with bunches of red roses making their way around, a beautiful love poem written by one of our residents, and a heartfelt card created together to share throughout the home. It’s been a wonderful few days full of smiles, creativity, and lots of love 💕

We’ve been getting into the Valentine’s spirit ahead of Saturday with a lovely arts and crafts session! Residents enjoyed making homemade card decorations and mini bunting, while love songs played in the background to set the mood. It was a wonderful social morning filled with creativity, smiles, and even some heartfelt homemade poems — all ready for our Valentine’s Day celebration.
