Set in a quiet cul-de-sac, overlooking the beautiful Victorian gardens of Devonport Park, stands Parkwood House a lively home with 46 places offering general and full nursing care as well as rest bite. Rooms are personalised to each resident with each front door painted to the colour of the residents choice. It is just a short walk from Stoke Village where you can find useful convenience stores, a bank, shops and cafes. Residents also have regular access to Devonport parks gardens, cafe, bowls green and community events throughout the year at the Victorian bandstand. There is a private secluded courtyard garden providing space for quiet contemplation, bird watching, gardening sessions, socials, BBQ’s and is also being using as an outdoor classroom for the neighbouring school children who visit. Passionate about enabling intergenerational and creative wellbeing opportunities within the community, Parkwood residents can expect regular contact with young people, nature and animals and was the first home in Devon to become Eden certified. http://www.eden-alternative.co.uk/

The kitchen chefs provide a range of healthy, home cooked meals, catering to any dietary and faith related nutritional choices in our spacious dining room but also facilitate seasonal alfresco tea parties and BBQ’s. There are two lounge areas, a fully fitted hair salon and cinema room for residents to enjoy along with visits from the chiropodist, optician and dentist. Parkwood House has a unique and dedicated lifestyle team who provide a full programme of tailored activities, including faith services, arts and crafts, knit and natter, photography, baking, games, entertainment, music and pet therapy to name but a few! They also boast a new purpose built minibus enabling many opportunities for trips around the local area and beyond.

Quite emotional, final day, day 30 completed of the 100 skips a day challenge with the British Heart Foundation.
I’ve struggled most days but completed religiously. Not a day missed, and not a skip less then 100.
Thank you everyone for your support, donations and encouragement. Without it I don’t think I would have continued.

Total raised from you all is £270. Could not be prouder and thankful ###
