Poles APart AP - Alternative Education Provision

Poles APart AP - Alternative Education Provision Poles APart AP is an Alternative Education Provision based in Devon and Cornwall. We are built on passion and genuine care for the students we work with.

We cater for ages 4-18 and have centres in Plymouth, Exeter, Bodmin and Tiverton. Poles APart AP is an alternative provision with a difference and we are proud to be working with young people aged 4-18 across Devon and Cornwall. As a provision and a staff team, we genuinely love what we do and appreciate how rewarding it is to know we are changing the lives of the young people in our care. We aim

to allow students to reset, reflect, and re-engage, thereby giving them the confidence to positively change their pathway, which in turn supports them in leading happy and successful lives.

πŸ”¨ Construction sessions are officially up and running in Exeter and what a way to start!

Our first project? A custom designed and built bridge for our guinea pigs! 🐾 From planning and designing to picking up the tools and bringing it to life, our student has really thrown themselves into this!

πŸ“Ί This week, as part of our Tech Through Time topic, our Beacon Primary students got hands on with a very important piece of historical technology…an old TV!

It has been a brilliant way to spark curiosity and get our students thinking about how rapidly technology has changed over time. What was a fascinating relic of the past for the students was a painful reminder of age for some of the staff team! πŸ˜‚

Who knows what they will be investigating next! πŸ‘€

🏰 We are so lucky to have some incredible places right on our doorstep! Visiting them is a way of bringing history to life in a way that a textbook cannot.

Our Bodmin students recently visited the stunning St Michael's Mount in Marazion, taking in its fascinating history, from being built by a wealthy family in the 1600s, to serving as a military fort during the Second World War, and now open for all to explore as part of the National Trust. 🌊

Ending the term on a high, our Plymouth Primary students headed along to Theatre Royal Plymouth to see β€˜The Enormous Turnip’ - a brilliant, fun-filled show about a vegetable that just won't stop growing! 🌱 They were gripped from start to finish!

A huge thank you to the Theatre Royal and Stuff and Nonsense Theatre Company for such a wonderful experience. We will definitely be back! 🌟

We talk a lot about learning outside the classroom, and we truly believe in it, but we also want to shine a light on something equally important! πŸ“š

Across all of our centres, our students have been getting stuck into some brilliant academic sessions this term. Many young people have a difficult relationship with traditional learning, and helping them rebuild that confidence and find a way back into learning that works for them is something we are incredibly passionate about.

Sometimes learning does just look like learning and our students are absolutely smashing it! 🀎

One of our Tiverton Centre’s highlights this term was visiting Clip n Climb in Exeter. πŸ§—β€β™‚οΈ

From nerves at the bottom to huge smiles at the top, watching our students push past their fears, cheer each other on, and surprise themselves was just brilliant. This is exactly the kind of experience we love to give our young people! Fun, challenging, and great for building confidence and resilience. πŸ’›

We are so proud of our Bodmin students who have been busy building a brand new workbench! πŸ”¨

It took teamwork, patience, careful instruction following, and safe use of tools and the end result speaks for itself. We love seeing our students roll their sleeves up, work together, and come away with something they can genuinely be proud of. Well done everyone! πŸ‘

🐰 It seems the Easter Bunny made an early stop at Forest School this year!

Before we broke up for the holidays, our students were treated to a surprise Easter egg hunt and what a way to end the term! πŸ₯š

We would like to wish everyone a very Happy Easter! 🐣 We hope you are all having a wonderful weekend filled with chocolate, sunshine, and quality time with your loved ones. β˜€οΈπŸ’›

From teamwork and communication to turn-taking and building social confidence, a trip to the park is so much more than it might seem. β˜€οΈ
And who says we can’t take our academics there too?! πŸ“š

Fresh air, freedom, and friendships, we love to see it! πŸ’›
