Established in 1984, Morris Engineering is now one of the most respected precision CNC engineering companies in South West England.

Serving Defence, Aerospace, Medical, Electronics, Oil & Gas industries. Morris Engineering was established by its chairman Roger Morris and managing director Tim Winzer over 30 years ago and has developed to be one of the most respected precision engineering companies in the south west of England. Our company is located just outside of Plymouth, Devon in a modern 25,000 square foot premises close to the A38 Devon Expressway. Knowledge built on experience, a willingness to learn and challenge established ways of working is a part of the daily operation. We work in close partnership with our customers and constantly invest to employ the very latest software, systems and technology. Following a large scale investment in our plant machinery and implementation in 2016, we have now increased our available capacity, giving our clients shorter lead times and increasing the volume of projects we can work on concurrently.

We have opportunities in the following areas: -

EDM / Tool making Cell
CNC Machining
Quality Control

EDM / Tool making Cell
Interested candidates must be time served or have experience and knowledge of both Spark and Wire erosion processes and machinery. This role is focused on machine programming, setting and operating, and any considered candidates would benefit from having either a Tool making or CNC machining background with a good understanding of engineering principles.
Shift: Day shift.

CNC Machining
We are looking for CNC machinists to strengthen our team. Interested candidates must have experience of setting and programming CNC machines (3, 4 & 5 axis), and have a good knowledge of Heidenhain and Fanuc controls. Candidates of interest would benefit from experience of working in a subcontract environment and have experience of producing small to medium batches, tooling & fixturing and the machining of various materials.
Shift: Alternating shift.

Quality Control Technician
Interested candidates must be time served or have experience of working within a quality control team. Duties would include first off, patrol and sample inspection of complex machined components. Candidates must have a good understanding of engineering drawings, inspection techniques and be trained in the use of CMM and/or similar equipment. Would also be advantageous to have experience of AS9100 and the producing of AS9102 reports.
Shift: Alternating shift.

Wages and benefits: Will be based on experience and skill level and will be discussed once interest is registered.

We are delighted to share that we recently hosted a group of apprentices and graduates from Systems Engineering & Assessment Ltd at our facility.

During their visit, we provided them with valuable insights into our procedures and processes as a proud member of the sub-tier. Our tour showcased our machining capabilities and the robust quality systems we have meticulously put in place.

We welcomed students from Plympton Academy and Ivybridge Community College to join us this week for work experience.
Morris Engineering are always keen to encourage up-and-coming engineers and give the opportunity to show young adults what a professional career in precision lean manufacturing is like.
They have been able to see first-hand our engineering facility, some of the latest CNC Machine Technology, automated measurement systems and Quality Control process’s. They also had insight from our Production Engineering and Design teams.

We hope these budding engineers have now got a better insight and understanding of component manufacturing, and this will help them on their future career paths.

Thanks to West Country Tool Company Ltd for the supply of our new Rubix Locker system, which will not only increase our current storage capacity for consumable items but will also take control of stock levels and order placement. West Country Tools are our preferred supplier of all consumable items, from cutting tools through to PPE and abrasives.
