It was lovely to have so many of our team in the office for the 1st of our January Care Pro Meetings. It's a great opportunity for the team, who mainly work on their own, to meet thier team mates and put names to faces. It's also a good chance for us to share important news, training and other useful information with the team.

Treats are always on offer, but Rachelle definitely wins the prize for her homemade sausage rolls!! Delish!!!

When families first get in touch, they often tell us the hardest part is how to start the conversation about care with a parent.

Not because their mum or dad needs lots of help, but because the word care does not feel like it fits.

Many people have spent their lives working, running households, supporting others and making decisions. Being offered care can feel like a step backwards.

What we often find works better is reframing the idea completely. Instead of “you need help”, it becomes “would it be nice if someone came round for a couple of hours a week to help you sort the photos, keep on top of the laundry or tackle those boxes in the spare room”.

Very often, just two hours a week can be enough to keep routines going, build confidence, give families reassurance and take some pressure off.

Support does not have to mean losing independence. Sometimes it simply means having someone alongside you to get things done.

Hi, my name is Diana, I have been in the care profession since I was 17 years old. Hi, I’m Rich and I live in Willerby. I'm married with 4 kids. I wanted to do something different with my life and I found that I loved helping people. During rehab from having a knee replacement, I studied and got qualifications in mental health and counselling. I have found that being a Care Professional is fulfilling, and I get a lot of job satisfaction from it. I am currently studying a BA honours degree in integrated counselling. I love learning about different conditions, disorders and understanding what goes on with different people and their needs. I've trained defence lab martial arts for 15 years, and I help in the kid’s classes. Interesting Fact: I ran the New York marathon in 2010.

Hi, I’m Michelle. I used to work with children with additional needs. I love animals and I have a Border Terrier called Angus. I love taking him for walks, but he can be a little Tinker! I love working as a Care Pro, meeting and supporting people especially those living with Dementia.
