We had a fabulous time at our recent Willingdon Community Café!

Last week we were delighted to welcome Suzanne from Dementia Singing Experience, Sussex, where she led a thoughtful and engaging Remembrance Day–themed session.

A big thank you to Suzanne for a wonderful afternoon, and to Lisa from Bowes House Care Home for kindly providing the delicious refreshments. They were very much appreciated! ☕️

Remember, Remember…. safety this Bonfire Night! 🎆

As fireworks light up the sky tonight, the noise and cold can cause unexpected distress for many older people in our community. This year, help keep your loved ones comfortable and secure by taking these simple steps:

- Muffle the noise: Close windows and draw curtains before it gets dark to minimise the startling bangs and flashes
- Stay warm: Ensure warm clothes are layered up, and hot, comfortable drinks are on hand
- Offer comfort: Provide reassuring company or a distracting activity if the noise causes anxiety, especially for those with dementia.

Don’t forget, the clocks go back tonight at 2am! ⏰

While we all enjoy an extra hour of sleep, it also means the evenings will be getting darker earlier here in Eastbourne, Hailsham and Polegate. 🌙

Please take a moment to check in on older loved ones. Make sure their outside lights are working and they feel safe and comfortable. If they still have an analogue clock, lend a hand to help them change it to the correct time.
