Now is the time to consider your skin hydration.

Obviously the simple answer is loads of moisturiser but the problem lies deeper than the surface. Moisturiser can only do so much on trapping the moisture in.

Deeper targeting options include:

🐟 Polynucleotides - hydration with the added benefit of repairing sun damage, fine lines and wrinkles, poor skin quality etc.

Biggest benefit is longevity. This is a slow burner that slows down the clock and regenerates your skin. Usually a course of 3 (from £345 split over 3 appointments over 3 months) with single maintenance appointment between 9-12 months (from £125). Really good for problem areas e.g under eyes, neck/decolletage, accordion lines on cheeks etc. Targets specific areas of the face deeply and intensely.

💧 HA skin boosters e.g Seventy Hyal - deep hydration injected into the exact right layer of the skin with the benefit of collagen production.

Biggest benefit is the glow. Plumped skin. Course of 2 or 3 (Seventy Hyal £230 for 2 or £330 for 3. Can be split across treatments and treatments are approximately 1 month apart). Maintenance appointment between 6-12 months £130. Treats the mid and lower face.

💆 Microneedling with polynucleotides, hyaluronic acid and niacinamide - hydration, regeneration and repair.

Biggest benefit is that this treats the whole face. It's not quite as intense as injecting products deeper so the results are milder but this is ideal for people with no major concerns and just want to improve their overall skin tone and texture. It also includes the neck area so it's a great all rounder to give you a boost. Treatments are priced at £100 each and the number needed is flexible depending on your goals.

Prices correct at time of posting. Please check the booking system for up to date pricing.

🕸️ It's Peel Season 🎃

This time of year is perfect for getting your skin in check

Skin peel options:
I used to have a large range of peels but through research, I have reduced this down to two amazing options to cover all bases.

🔮 1) BioRepeel - this one is a great one just for freshening up your skin, dealing with acne, addressing mild pigmentation etc. It's a good all rounder with basically zero downtime.
£50 per treatment or courses are available (this is the one that you also get for free if you have treatments for lines and wrinkles 😉).

🧟‍♀️2) Perfect Peel - this one is excellent for resurfacing and pigmentation concerns. It has downtime as your skin will likely peel. The peeling process follows a clear pattern though so it is predictable and you can plan it around any events.
£160 (usually priced at £300). With booster £230.

If hydration and dullness is your main concern, you may prefer to get a skin booster (injectable treatment)

✨ Seventy Hyal - deep hydration and plumping effect. A course of treatments works best
Course of 3 £330 (this can be split over the monthly treatments)
Individual treatment £130.

Fine lines and crepiness can be targeted with polynucleotides (injectable treatment)

🐟 Polynucleotides - a restorative treatment that also slows down the clock. They help with sun damage, ageing signs, inflammation, crepiness and fine lines.
A course of treatments is required
Three x 2mls £400
Three x 1ml £345
(This can be split over the monthly treatments).

As always, you're welcome to book for a free consultation to see which would be best for you.

🧴 Exfoderm 🤩

I had a break from this product recently and I was really shocked at how bumpy and generally unpleasant my skin became within a couple of weeks. It really was smoothing out my skin beautifully.

Exfoderm is an exfoliating lotion. Exfoliators usually work by having little beads or granules inside of it for you to manually exfoliate your skin by rubbing in a circular motion. Exfoderm is just a quick application of the lotion and it does all the work for you.

There are two types. One for normal/dry skin (Exfoderm) and one for oily skin (Exfoderm Forte). Medical grade exfoliation 😍

It's £88 (including delivery direct to you from the pharmacy). RRP is £225 including delivery.

Get in touch with me if you'd be interested in giving this one a go. I absolutely love it. Especially because I can't have any injectables at the moment because 🤱🏼

It lasts me about 4 months. Obagi says it lasts 3 so it should last you somewhere around 3-4 months.

There it is.
Admitted to use of an illegal toxin.
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c89eey7jjeno

Scary stuff.

Licensed toxins prescribed and ordered from reputable pharmacies always. No exceptions. It's your life. These poor people clearly didn't know.

As the BBC names a beautician who gave illegal jabs, two victims share their story.

Just a reminder to always get your toxin injections from someone who is either a prescriber (I'm a prescriber) or where you meet the prescriber face to face before the drug is prescribed.

Toxin shouldn't be cheap because it is very very expensive to buy on prescription.

Safe toxin isn't cheap and cheap toxin isn't safe. Nevermind winning it in a competition like in this article 😱

In recent weeks 28 cases of botulism caused by fake Botox are recorded in the north-east of England.

If you use a clinic that isn't run by a prescribing healthcare professional, this is why it's important to meet the prescriber when receiving Botox. You know they've prescribed it and it hasn't just been ordered online from some dodgy place.

Toxin injections are considered very safe as long as they are the legitimate products prescribed appropriately and sourced through a registered pharmacy.

When things like this happen it goes beyond the "it's important because it's your face" it becomes "it's important because it's your life".

Background:
I attended a roundtable event with my governing body - the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) last October to talk about the impact of officially banning remote prescribing of medications in the medical aesthetics sector. The results of this discussion have now finally been put into action and will go live on the 1st June.

Remote prescribing is when a prescription is issued without seeing the patient face to face. This definitely has its place in medicine, for example, when I had extreme pregnancy sickness and instead of dragging me into the surgery, my GP prescribed antiemetics after speaking to me on the phone. Prescribing cosmetic injectables without seeing someone face to face doesn't make any sense because you have no access to medical records in private practice so you need to have a discussion with the patient about their medical history and you also need to assess whether the person is physically suitable for the treatment they are hoping to receive.

Most people receiving Botox and other prescription only cosmetic medications are not aware of what goes on in this industry. There are prescribing healthcare professionals across the country issuing these products without ever seeing the patient and often without even speaking to them. The NMC has always said it is 'best practice' to see a patient face to face prior to prescribing these treatments and that prescribing them remotely is not appropriate. People have chosen to ignore this best practice guidance. This is really odd because as a registrant of the NMC you are always expected to follow their best practice recommendations unless you have an incredibly good reason not to. Charging for a prescription is not a good reason 😬 💸

Anyway, long story short, I've always followed the best practice guidance anyway so your experience with me will not change. The NMC have just made it concrete for those that were choosing not to follow the rules. So it's an interesting read and it's interesting to see the chaos in the Facebook groups where everyone is outing themselves as not following the guidance before... But it will be business as usual from me because I'm a boring rule follower 😅

I don't just inject filler or treat lines 🤩

I can also recommend or prescribe medical grade skincare that can be used at home or provide in-clinic treatments including skin peels and dermaplaning.

There are injectable options available too including regenerative treatments like polynucleotides that don't change your face but slow down the clock a little bit 🕔

Feel free to DM me 🥰

This is not an exhaustive list:

Injectables:
Nope sorry. Not worth it. So no Botox/toxin, skin boosters, fillers, polynucleotides or anything can be administered in this time. There's no clinical data to show product safety in pregnancy or breastfeeding.

Microneedling:
For me, this is a no. Some people will do it but I won't. I'd only be able to do it dry without any serums or anything as none of them would be considered safe. My concern about breaking the skin barrier during pregnancy or breastfeeding is that this could lead to infection. Obviously, an infection can cause complications in pregnancy but people don't always consider the issues it can cause when breastfeeding. When you are given antibiotics whilst breastfeeding, this can make your milk taste bitter and then your baby may not feed effectively from the breast. It also causes diarrhoea in the baby and this can last some time even after you have finished your course. This can result in weight loss and just general discomfort for your baby. As someone who had a significant c section wound infection, I had to be prescribed antibiotics. Luckily, my baby still took my milk but definitely did suffer from the other side effects. This made me feel incredibly guilty but was completely out of my control. I would feel much worse if I'd had to put her through that just because I decided to have my skin microneedled.

Facials:
Using appropriate products, facials and dermaplaning are absolutely fine during pregnancy. Enzyme peels are usually safe but no other form of peel.

Skincare:
This is your rescuer. As long as the products are safe.
Most prescription items are not safe in pregnancy or breastfeeding.
Salicylic acid is one that is sometimes deemed safe and sometimes not so it's best just to avoid.
Anything with high dose vitamin A is a no go so that's all your retinol creams and tretinoin.
Vitamin C is a yes in most circumstances so load up on that!
Topical hyaluronic acid is also safe.
Please get in touch if you want some skincare recommendations.

Focus on facials and skincare until you can have more treatments again 🤰🤱
