Happy Halloween. Blessed Samhain.

As children my brother and I would enjoy going guising around our neighbours dressed in homemade costumes, having our jokes or songs rewarded with sweets, nuts and sometimes even money.

Party games would be dooking for apples or trying to biting a chunk from a suspended swinging treacle scone (neither of which are encouraged nowadays) .

Did you do any of these things in your childhood?

Menopause awareness month.

Some of my favourite oils and other products which I found helpful during perimenopause and menopause.

Essential oils :
Lavender and clary sage oils.
Calming, soothing and relaxing helping you prepare for sleep.
As neals yard organics featured oil for menopause awareness month there's 15% off the clary sage too!

Rose and geranium oil:
Gently uplifting, helping to balance your emotions.
Blend a drop in argan oil and gently rub it in your hair after washing, you'll smell the lovely, uplifting aroma every time you move your head.

Peppermint oil:
refreshing and energising also cooling if you want to blend a few drops into a plain lotion ( I use it as a foot lotion)

NB: always read instructions before using the essential oils.

Nourishing, moisturisation for your body:
Moisturising after a tepid shower or bath.
Neals yard organic women's balance, feels luxurious, smells amazing and is really moisturising. My skin changed and became drier during perimenopause, I found this left my skin feeling soft and moisturised without feeling greasy.

Pillow mist: a couple of sprays on your pillow before bedtime can help you to drift off to sleep.

Staying away from the phone screen at least 30 minutes before bed helps me to prepare for sleep.

Keeping the bedroom temperature on the lower side, I've found helps too.

Silk pillowcase : Gentle on the skin and hair.
Hair isn't tangled as much in the morning as it is with cotton pillow cases.
Face doesn't feel as dried out when I waken.

The silk also seems to keep my face and neck cooler during the night.

Facial spritz:
carry in your handbag or pocket if you have hot flushes during the day to help you cool down and keep it on your bedside table for night time.
I use neal yards white tea facial mist finding it cooling and refreshing.

World menopause day 2025:

Raising awareness of peri menopause and menopause.

The most commonly known symptoms are hot flashes , insomnia and brain fog all of which I've experienced along with joint pain, dizziness, fatigue and itchy skin.

Different things will work better than others for each of us , here are a few of the things that I've found helped me.

Meditation, mindfullness and Reiki to help with relaxation and focus and to help reduce anxiety.
Believe it or not I actually came to enjoy mindfully ironing in the garden (when it's dry that is). The fresh air and bird song serving to make it quite a pleasant, relaxing experience.

Wearing loose clothing and layering to help with the flushes.

Having tepid showers and/ or baths and gently patting my skin dry rather than rubbing has helped reduce itchiness.

Herbal teas or hot water with fresh herbs from our garden, particularly spearmint and mint as an alternative to caffeine especially in the evening.
( After trying out multiple herbal teas before finding ones I liked, Neals yard organic quiet time and pukka love are two of my favourites)

Exercise ; yoga ,body balance, walking and dancing help with relaxation and loosen off my joints. Often finding I sleep better after gentle excercise and having been out in nature.

Bedside table must have's: A hand held fan, cooling facial spritz and a cool pack. (I borrowed our cats cooling neck collar, which works a treat, I think for us both!) .

A well balanced diet, cutting down on spicy food and alcohol.
Drinking plenty of water.

Sharing and swapping tips with friends.

Researching to help me make informed choices and after discussion with the GP I'm still finding the HRT patches have improved many of the symptoms .

Tomorrow I'll share some of the essential oils and creams which I've found helpful too.

Please feel free to share any tips you've found have helped work for you.

World mental health day

Since 1992 October the 10th has been recognised as World mental health day to promote global mental health education and raise awareness .

The theme this year is highlighting the importance of people being able to protect their mental well being in times of global crisis. ( ref: mentalhealth.org.uk)
The mental health uk website provides advice and tips on managing feelings of overwhelm related to this.

We all find different ways to cope
-
some of the things I've found helpful to my mental well being are :

limiting the amount of news I watch and listen to

setting healthy boundaries , it's ok to say no to things, put yourself first and prioritise your happiness

getting out in nature : walking or sometimes just sitting looking at the flowers or cloud watching

exercise, especially dancing

mindfulness practice

gratitude practice

and chatting and spending time with friends and family

Reiki infused crystal grid for the harvest full moon in Aries .
The harvest moon is the full moon which rises closest to the autumnal equinox , this year being in October .

It's the first full supermoon of the year.

Crystals are : moonstone, peacock ore, red aventurine, ocean jasper , pietersite, yellow calcite, yellow fluorite, clear quartz.

The rowan berries are growing abundantly in our street.

Happy Equinox.

Happy autumn equinox to everyone in the Northern hemisphere and spring equinox to those of you in the southern hemisphere.

It's the time of year when the axis of the earth is perpendicular to the sun making the length of day and night almost equal.

However you spend your day, wishing you all harmony, balance, happiness and love.

About me

After almost two decades of practising with friends , family and pets it was a natural progression to start sharing the energy of Reiki and crystal healing with others. Through a combination of natural gentle healing techniques, massage and mindfulness its a pleasure being able to help make a difference to the well being , happiness and health of others. Helping with emotional, physical and mental ailments , supporting and encouraging self development and transformation in others brings great joy.

From childhood ,encouraged by dad , we would collect pebbles and stones from the beach , being drawn to the energy of the stones ,finding holding them or keeping them in my pocket comforting . Many of the larger stones are still in our gardens , discovering later that they are mostly quartz or granite crystals. Without realising it the tremendous pull of the energy of crystals drew me into working with their magic on a daily basis in my career as a sonographer as its piezo electric crystals which change one form of energy into another in order to create the Ultrasound images!

After suffering shoulder pain and stress around the time of exams a friends mother offered to give me a |Reiki treatment to help. I hadn’t heard of Reiki before, however much to my surprise it eased the pain , gave me a restful sleep and helped reduce stress levels. Having had such an amazing experience I decided to go forward and complete Usui Reiki level 1 . I experienced an incredible sense of balance and well being which had such a positive overall effect this then encouraged me to expand and develop my knowledge and skills. The passion ,fascination and thirst for knowledge related to energy healing and working with crystals has grown over the years leading me to become a Reiki master teacher , undertake courses in different forms of Reiki (i.e. Ascending earth, Crystal Reiki. Aura empowerment Reiki), Crystal healing ,chakra balancing , guided mediatition , mindfulness and Arcturian light healing.

A session with myself will incorporate discussion and information gathering regarding your specific requirements helping us select the most appropriate and effective combination individually tailored to give you the most beneficial experience to suit your needs.
