Junior Doctor Strikes December 2026.

The British Medical Association (BMA) has announced that their resident doctor members will strike for six days from 7am on Tuesday 7th April until 7am on Monday 13th April.

Resident Doctors include GP Registrars who work within our practice.

Therefore, During these strikes, the Practice May have a reduced availability of appointments.

Where possible, please try to use PATCHS for routine problems. All messages sent through PATCHS will be acknowledged within 24 working hours.

March is Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month

Knowing the symptoms can help you notice when something isn’t quite right. Ovarian cancer has 4 main symptoms:

👉 Main symptoms:
• persistent stomach pain
• persistent bloating
• difficulty eating / feeling full quickly
• needing to wee more often

These can also be caused by IBS, cysts or PCOS — but if they’re new or unusual for you, it’s important to get them checked.

👉 Other symptoms may include:
• indigestion
• back pain
• changes in bowel habits
• unexplained weight loss
• post‑menopausal bleeding
• extreme tiredness

📌 If your symptoms are persistent, severe, frequent, or unusual, please speak to your GP.

You can call reception to book a blood test or collect your blood forms to take to the hospital sit and wait clinic at Pontefract Hospital.

We are saddened to announce the passing of Dr. Copley.

A long‑standing GP at the Practice for over 30 years, he originally ran the surgery from his own home before its move to Northgate.

Dr. Copley was a much‑loved member of the community and passed away peacefully at the remarkable age of 100.

His family would like to let you know that the funeral will take place on Monday 30th March at 1pm at Pontefract Crematorium.

All at Northgate Surgery send our love and deepest condolences to Dr. Copley’s family.
