A Question for Leaders Home carers Domiciliary care organisations Care Managers Fuel is going up due to the IranAmerica War!
Are councils prepared to act now to protect the workforce that sustains community care or will they wait until staff leave, services collapse, and vulnerable people are left without support?
Because by the time the system visibly fails, it will already be too late.
We Cannot Afford to “Wait and See”
A “wait and see” approach is no longer acceptable. The impact of rising fuel prices is already here and it is being felt daily by home care workers who are quietly carrying the burden.
Every day of delay means:
• More carers struggling financially
• More providers under pressure
• More risk to continuity and quality of care
Local authorities and decision-makers must recognise that this is not a future problem it is a current crisis.
What Needs to Happen Now
Immediate, practical action is required:
• Urgent review of care contract rates to reflect real fuel costs
• Increased and realistic mileage allowances for care workers
• Emergency financial support for care providers
• Direct support or incentives to retain frontline staff
